  1. Nope not at all though it looks like only a tiny bit of showers are crossing over the Bronx. Most of the storm is north of the city and traveling NE.
  2. Nice job getting a run home Seiya. No DPs Cody Edit: or just airmail a pitch
  3. Bases loaded 0 outs with 4, 5 and 6 due up. Better horsefeathering score here
  4. Is it just me or does it seem like umpires have been particularly awful this year? I can remember going like an entire week without getting mad at umpires or even really noticing they are there (minus a missed call here and there) but for whatever reason it seems like they are out there to piss people off daily.
  5. So nice of the Cubs to responds to Jed's "hey maybe we'll be buyers if we don't completely horsefeathers the bed for the next couple of weeks" by going 4-10 in their next 14 games
  6. Smyly last 9 starts: 43.2 IP (average 4.85 IP per start) 6.39 ERA 1.83 WHIP 10 HR allowed
  7. Is it time to talk about how bad Smyly has been since like early May?
  8. There we go, finally beat the Yankees in NY. Good win! Cubs improve to 5-23 all time against the Yankees
  9. Ok Taillon was pitching legit good the last couple innings. ERA has gone down 78 points tonight
  10. Damn, 2 Cubs thrown out on the bases that inning. At least they got a run
  11. So far Taillon has gotten outs on batted balls with the following xBA: .700 .680 .730 .460 .510
  12. Dude horsefeathers off Trey Mancini. What a terrible AB
  13. I know he’s hitting 4th but funny watching Gomes with the green light in 3-0 and 3-1. Yan Gomes!
  14. Seriously. Tons of line drives directly at fielders
  15. Cubs go down 1-2-3. Now we brace for Taillon’s latest shelling first 3 batters: Lineout, base hit, lineout
  16. Swanson just said that he won't be playing in the All-Star game. Stroman already said that not only will he not pitch but he is going to PR over the ASB to relax so he won't be there. Hopefully Steele gets into the game so we can have something to look forward to. TBH, he should probably start with Kershaw on the IL, but have a feeling they will go with someone with more name recognition.
  17. The Cubs have never beaten the Yankees in New York, save an exhibition win in 2009 to open New Yankee Stadium. 0-12 overall with 4 of those losses coming in the World Series. As far as I can tell, there are only 2 other matchups in baseball where one team has never beaten the other: 1. The White Sox have never won in Atlanta (A CWS @ ATL series is next week) 2. The Rockies have never won in Toronto (won't be playing there until 2024)
  18. I don’t know they might be. You can point out the season long RD, but even if you say “ok well the Reds are a much better team now than they were at the start of the season, you have to throw away the early stats” ok then…run differentials since the start of the Reds 20-4 run: Reds: +32 (20-4 record) Cubs: +28 (13-10 record) I dunno maybe the Cubs are just a team built to greatly under achieve their RD and the reds overachieve.
  19. Reds win in extra innings. Now 20-4 in their last 24 games and the Cubs are 8 games back in the central. Still waiting for that terrible pitching to affect them..
  20. Last 5 games have been pretty wild 1. Down 6-0 in the 5th and 6-2 entering the 9th, the Cubs score 4 to tie it but lose in the 10th 2. Up 6-0 in the 3rd, the Brewers score the last 8 runs and win 8-6 3. Up 4-0 in the 5th and 6-2 in the 8th, the Cubs blow the lead but manage to win it in the 11th 4. Down 3-1 in the 9th, the Cubs score 3 runs with 2 outs and win 4-3 5. Down 5-3 in the 8th the Cubs tie it up only to immediately give up the go ahead run in the bottom half and lose Not a dull one in there, too bad the Cubs lost 60% of those games.
  21. I meant my original comment as we needed to win this series and we didnt. we also need to win next series and most of the series coming up. The series started with extra importance as I believe the Brewers were tied for first on Monday but with the Reds being nearly unstoppable right now it becomes slightly less important, though any game against a team you are chasing has more importance than a game against the Yankees.
  22. The deadline has a major impact on how our season goes. We're down to 20 games before the deadline. A Direction on buy/sell will probably be made after maybe 17 more games. Currently 6.5 out of the wild card and 7.5 out of the division. Need to win as many games/series as we can as the margin for error is basically zero.
  23. Agreed. It just sucks that a majority of our easiest games this year come after the deadline. Easiest remaining schedule in the NL and we'll probably win a bunch of feel good meaningless games at the end of the year
