  1. Kind of funny to say that when our starter today is top 5 in baseball in ERA but I get it. A 2015 Jake Arrieta or even a pitcher 80% of that would make this team so lethal
  2. Think we’re up to 18 straight innings with at least 1 baserunner. This is insane
  3. 5 strikeouts through 2 innings for Steele!
  4. The Braves have gotten at least one base runner in 14 straight innings
  5. Well I didn't bother to stay up and watch it, but that sucks. It's nice that it sounds like they outplayed Sweden but obviously the end result was elimination from the tournament at the earliest point ever. US Soccer 1-2 this summer in PKs
  6. That’s a bit scary but I’m guessing they only plan to use him if things go bad and they need to eat multiple innings
  7. Since we passed the Diamondbacks in the standings I want to point out that on July 2nd, they were 50-34, while the Cubs were 38-43, separated by 10.5 games in the standings. Since then Arizona has gone 7-21 while the Cubs have gone 19-11 and Chicago is now 0.5 games better for the season.
  8. Pirates 3 outs away from beating the Brewers
  9. That's what I was thinking, he's not going to get enough PT at Chelsea. Maybe they loan him out at some point?
  10. He’s throwing. Sounds like he’s getting closer to returning but not ready yet.
  11. Rangers win, the Cubs are 1 game out of a playoff spot
  12. Reds lose, Rangers entered the 9th with a 9-6 lead but it’s now 9-8, though with 2 outs.
  13. Nats increase lead over the Reds to 7-3 in the 9th. Rangers up 8-6 in the 8th Unfortunately the Brewers have Burnes pitching tonight and the Pirates are countering with someone that has a 5.13 ERA, which would have been much higher if any of the 6 runs he allowed last game were earned.
  14. Ohtani is going to cite the Cubs not having enough 40+ FV prospects as his main reason for turning down the Cubs offer this offseason.
  15. Braves lineup is almost the exact same as last year's except swapping William Contreras with Murphy and Dansby with Arcia. The lineup was already very good, but almost every player in the lineup is having a significantly better season this year than last year. OPS change from 2022 to 2023 Matt Olson: +.164 Ozzie Albies: +.114 Orlando Arcia: +.065 Austin Riley: +.035 Eddie Rosario: +.165 Michael Harris: -.058 Ronald Acuna Jr: +.244 Marcell Ozuna: +.094 So 8 of their 9 regulars have increased their OPS, 6 of them pretty significantly. Like what the horsefeathers is going on over in suburban Atlanta for almost literally every single player to be hitting significantly better than last year? Are they stealing signs or some horsefeathers?
  16. Yeah and while Steele is great and I'm more than happy to have him on the bump tomorrow, he's not really a guy you can hope goes 7+ innings to save the pen. I believe he's only gone more than 6.1 IP twice this year.
  17. First time I'll ever post this in a game the Cubs mostly led comfortably throughout and the opponent never had the tying run at the plate after the 6th.
  18. The Cubs held a 3+ run lead from the bottom of the 1st inning until the bottom of the 9th and I was sweating the entire time. Cubs win!
