Someone said in the general baseball thread that the AL thing isn’t true anymore, just goes by reverse record. Not sure if it’s true but since it’s more beneficial towards the Cubs I’ll choose to believe that.
I mentioned this in the other thread. Can Jed convince Tom to go over the lux tax? I'm assuming grabbing any of these players would put us over. Of course its possible Jed himself won't want to cross that threshold as he knows it will limit their moves in future years.
But horsefeathers this is like mana from Heaven for the Cubs. Desperate need of some solid starting pitching and a lefthanded reliever and the Angels just dangled them in front of us. Seems too good to be true.
Peterman was cut today and will likely end up on the practice squad as QB3. PJ Walker was cut the other day. I suppose there was still some crazy possibility where the Bears made Peterman the backup and today's news ensures that won't happen.
Colt McCoy and Carson Wentz are still out there though. Also I feel obligated to point out that Colin Kaepernick is available as well.
Umm....I probably wouldn't hate taking a shot at several of those players, particularly the pitchers.
Unfortunately to grab any of them we'd have to take on their salary which would push us over the tax line I think.
Yes and with a rookie QB and no 1st round pick there is absolutely no incentive for them to tank so they are going to be playing to win all season including the end when other teams are going for draft position or preparing for the playoffs
The sad thing is that if the Cubs get swept, they are guaranteed to lose all their WC cushion as the Giants (2 GB) and Reds (2 GB) are currently playing a series. One of those teams is going to win twice to pull even with the Cubs.
My suggested solution is for the Cubs to not get swept.
This is a little misleading since 2 of his relief appearances were essentially treated as starts. As a 1 inning reliever he has 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
Yeah, I just think the Brewers are red hot right now. Tough to beat teams when they are playing this well. I thought we outplayed them in that series in July despite splitting. Just a bad time to be playing them.
My wife is at the game with her company and is flipping out that Bob Odenkirk is in the suite next to her and sitting literally 5 feet from where she is.
Trying to think of the funniest thing she could shout at him that would resonate more than shooting the finger guns at him or saying “Better Call Saul!” . Maybe “Good thing 24 is the highest number so there’s a cap to how many runs Taillon can give up”
^^ this is why I don’t approach celebrities ^^
Is he? Seems like the Cubs are hitting him fairly well.
but anyways getting weak contact is exactly what has kept Miley in the league for so long so not sure why you’d be surprised
Does the goodness of Dansby, Bellinger, Merryweather, Fulmer, Tauchman erase the badness of Smyly, Mancini, Hosmer, Taillon, Barnhart? Probably but damn
