That's sad and hilarious at the same time. As much as I was strangely ok with having USC and UCLA join the Big Ten, I now wish we could just go back to things the way they were before.

And technically there aren't in this stretch. I think its 13 days in a row, followed by an off day and then 14 games in 13 days. But yeah I think the 20 consecutive games thing is still in there. I remember the Cubs PA had to agree to play more during the "death march" in Sept 2018.

Wait, wtf. After the 3 off days in 8 days stretch, it looks like the Cubs play 27 games in 27 days after that. They do have an off day in that stretch midway through, but then the next day is a doubleheader against the Reds. What a stupid way to space out off days.

The good news is the Mets are throwing Carrasco (6.60 ERA in 16 starts) and David Peterson (5.65 ERA in 18 appearances in what appears to be a hybrid reliever/starter role) so they'll have shots to win the next 2 if they don't win tonight. After this series the Cubs have 3 off days in their next 8 days, so plenty of chances to rest up after this

This was my biggest complaint about the new playoff system. Play 162 games and miss the playoffs because the Cubs lost 3 one run games in late April

Ugh just realized it’s Smyly vs Senga tomorrow yuck. Not that we haven’t been winning games with unfavorable matchups lately. The rest of the series has more favorable pitching matchups though But for tomorrow, Smyly has gone 5 innings just once in his last 7 starts. Pen is gassed, but perhaps Wesneski can pitch a few innings tomorrow. Merryweather will be available but I don’t think Fulmer, Leiter and Alzolay will be able to pitch. basically looking at Wesneski, Merryweather, Cuas, Kilian, and Palencia as the pen tomorrow that will need to cover 5 innings or so unless the Cubs call someone up

I love that the postgame discussion after taking 2 of 3 from the best team in baseball to get their 13th win in their last 16 wins is about what’s wrong with the Cubs. I mean I totally get the discussion and it’s valid but it’s funny seeing this when I went back into this thread.
