  1. I have to make my keeper choices tonight and could really use some feedback. For some context: 12 teams, 0.5 PPR, superflex (basically 2 QB) start 3 RB and 4 WR. QB passing TDs are 6 points. It's a very big QB league. Unfortunately I don't have a good QB keeper option because Kyler tore his ACL and Fields was a keeper last year (can only keep 1 consecutive year). Here are my best keeper options and what round I would lose a pick in if I kept. I have to pick 2 Barkley (Round 3) AJ Brown (Round 4) Garrett Wilson (undrafted so Round 8 ) Ridley (undrafted so Round 9 ) Pacheco (Round 16) I also have Jefferson (R1) and if I really wanted a QB Pickett (R13) but nah. Wilson I'm almost certainly keeping. In my mind its between Brown and Ridley. Brown gives me WR1 value from Round 4 but he was unusually healthy last year and D. Smith took some of his value away later in the year. Ridley is a huge wild card but has WR 1 potential with a 9th round pick, but his floor is riskier due to the 2 years of layoff and the Jags pass catching options. I suppose Barkey is an option too, but I don't trust him after seeing him wear down at the end of last year. So really unless someone feels differently its between using a 4th round pick on AJ Brown or a 9th round pick on Calvin Ridley. Thoughts??
  2. This is what we're playing for tonight guys. Winner takes this baby home
  3. Its probably hard to grasp the concept of it if you aren't a soccer fan because its so foreign to the other American sports. This NBA thing is basically just dipping their toes in the water to allow for the least amount of disruption as possible. That said, in England for instance each of the different competitions have different meaning. The FA Cup includes teams from every level of the pyramid, the Carabao Cup includes teams from top 4 leagues in England, then there are the Champions League and Europa league that include teams from all over Europe. This NBA tournament is just the same 30 teams that are already competing for a championship, so I can understand why the general NBA fan is wondering why we even need this. It would be really cool if at some point there could be a tournament between NBA teams and Euroleague teams. Though my guess is that logistics would make it difficult and the talent disparity between the 2 leagues may make it pointless (though I could be wrong!)
  4. For this though what does it matter? The teams don’t have to put extra emphasis on these games if they don’t want to. Absolutely nothing changes. Same rosters, same rules, same games that would already be played with the same effect on the standings. They’re broadcast on your normal local cable channels. It will feel exactly like any other regular season game when you watch because it basically is.
  5. 3.7 or whatever it is runs a game is still healthy but the team BA and OBP have gone down quite a bit in the last 7 and slugging is sustaining us. I don't know the underlying numbers so maybe they're just crushing it at guys, but I think they're hitting .220 in the last week with an OPS in the .670s and what seems like a higher K rate and more weak contact. There a decent chance I'm just being overly negative and my pessimistic leaning mind is looking for trends too hard, thats fine I'm well known for doing that in the past (though its been awhile since I've had emotional investment in this team so maybe people forgot?), but I think it is rational to think that the team isnt going to hit like they did in July for the rest of the year. Maybe it's just a little bit worse, maybe its peaks and valleys not sure.
  6. It's several guys right now Dansby is 5 for his last 35 Morel is 2 for his last 28 Gomes is 2 for his last 26 Happ is 6 for his last 41 Even Bellinger is 0 for his last 6!!! Nico is still hitting well, Seiya has been hot since coming back. Candelario has cooled off in that hes not hitting .800 but hes still hitting ok.
  7. This is when I hate baseball. It's not like the Cubs aren't trying hard enough or are running the wrong plays or whatever like other sports. In baseball players will all slump a couple times a year and be hot other times a year. The Cubs seem to slump or get hot as a team. You can't really do much other than ride it out and hope the pitching shows up.
  8. White Sox allowed the Brewers to sweep them and then they beat us. Well played. If they win tomorrow they'll have cost the Cubs 5 games in the standings over a 6 day period
  9. And its 5-3 on a ground ball Dansby missed, a SB and a bloop single
  10. Yeah thats the problem. The Cubs have averaged 5.7 runs allowed in August including this game. The offense has been otherworldly until recently but its simply not sustainable, they're gonna have colder stretches.
  11. That part doesnt phase me. Morel can tie it with a swing, Seiya has been our hottest hitter, and we have 2 more catchers on the bench to take over for Gomes if we need to PH.
  12. I know baseball is a game of ups and downs but its crazy to me how the entire offense all the sudden look so bad. For like a month it seemed like we were putting pressure on every team we faced, starting innings with a couple on, getting big hits. Now it feels like we can barely get anything going. I don't want to act too negative, but just feels like we're entering one of those stretches where we struggle to score runs for a couple of weeks. Hopefully the bad teams we play won't allow us to do that.
  13. Would be so Cubs to win series against the Reds, Braves and Jays and then go like 4-8 during this stretch against terrible teams.
  14. I hope so. The Cubs offense looks to be going into a slump, but a slumping Cubs offense might still be better than the Brewers 😂
  15. Can’t believe Merryweather has only given up 6 HR this year. He’s been solid overall but feels like he’s given up several more HRs
  16. I guess we only play well against good teams now
  17. Dammit Seiya why’d you go too far there? Changes the inning ugh
  18. After all that Kyle’s gonna get a QS tonight edit: I see I was beaten in that observation lol
  19. Damn, runner on 2nd and 0 outs with 3-4-5 due up and couldn't get the run home.
  20. Every time Dansby comes up I expect him to strike out or homer. Doesn't help that we're back to having a terrible ump behind the plate again.
  21. My fear is that the offense is slowing down. This offense is good but I’m not sure what they’ve done over the last month is a sustainable level. Every player/team slumps throughout a season. Starting pitching needs to get better fast.
  22. Only 8 baserunners in the first 3 innings for Kyle
