  1. I feel bad, the fanbase was pretty hard on him. I don't think I was that hard but I questioned the strangeness of his absences. In reality all the clues were there that there was something going on in his personal life. And yeah Kyle I agree, seems strange that he even played and helps make sense of the poor performance (I hope)
  2. Giants up 2-0 early in game 1 of their DH edit: now 3-3
  3. With Candelario on the IL, unless I'm missing someone its either him, Mastrobuoni or Wisdom at 3B. Might as well stick with the guy that is putting up solid defensive numbers, Edit: I guess Morel has played 3B too so maybe he could start there when Seiya is healthy enough to play the field (I'm assuming health is a reason he was moved from RF to DH right before the game last night). But then who is your DH?
  4. Out of curiosity do you notice this rampant negativity outside of the game threads? Is it as prevalent? You are fighting a crusade that thousands of message board posters have fought over the last 20 years trying to correct the behavior of those who lose rationality during the middle of a game they are emotionally attached to. I’ve posted at dozens of sports boards over the last 20 years and I’ve seen this type of discussion in just about every one of them. I’m not saying you shouldn’t speak your mind, just saying you aren’t going to convince a bunch of people to not use a message board game thread as an emotional outlet.
  5. Ok the odds didn’t go down as much as expected. Down to 72.7%, down about 10% from yesterday and 20% from their peak
  6. I remember when we were tracking the record needed to get to 90 wins and it almost seemed like a very possible achievement at one point. Just need to go 12-2 to get there now
  7. I picked the Cubs to win 78 games and I keep waiting and waiting to admit I was wrong but they just can’t get that 79th win
  8. Maybe this can be one of those things where they feel good getting some bits and it carries over to tomorrow. im trying here. Really trying
  9. And there’s your 3 runs to make it look like it wasn’t a miserable dominant performance. Where was this horsefeathers all night
  10. I mean plummet relative to their present position. Obviously not going to like 40%. But I could see it dropping to the mid to upper 60s. Today was a very damaging day for the Cubs. They are still in a solid position on paper but baseball isn’t played on paper
  11. I think he’s trying to get fired honestly. He’s been on a roll tonight
  12. The Cubs were *so close* to getting their first runner to 2B but Nico swung at a pitch a foot low and outside that would have been ball 4. So close!
  13. The thing I don’t know is how it accounts for tiebreakers. Like right now is it incorporating the fact that the Cubs are probably losing the tiebreaker, or does it just understand that no tiebreaker has been clinched yet regardless of whether the season series is 2-2 or 3-1. If it’s the latter I’d expect the number to plummet bc all the sudden the Cubs have 3 teams within 2 games of them and they all own the tiebreaker
  14. The Cubs have not advanced a runner to second base today. If the Diamondbacks do this for 2 more innings it will be the 2nd time in a week Arizona kept us from getting into scoring position for an entire game
  15. It’s gonna be in the upper 60s I think. It’s 76 right now with tonight’s results so far. The Diamondbacks clinching the tiebreaker and everyone moving within 2 games of us will push us down quite a bit.
  16. Now you are burning Stroman in a blowout. Cool cool
  17. We’re not gonna bench Swanson lol. He’s a 2-3 win player on defense alone. He has been terrible at the plate for a long time now but he still needs to be in the game Happ has actually been one of our better hitters lately until recently. I really don’t think playing 2 rookies that most people would agree are probably up here a little earlier than expected is going to do much.
  18. Now watch the Cubs put up 2-3 runs now that the pressure is off and prevent me from creating all sorts of fun stats documenting how bad the offense has been
  19. I would have rather just been a run of the mill consistent 78 win team than get myself completely emotionally invested only to complete a collapse from 93% playoff odds to out of the playoffs
