    What the hell did Hairston do in the spring to deserve this. He went from almost starting at 2B to offical 'used less then Freddie Bynum' status

    My current rotation: C Zambrano J Santana L Hernandez B Radke Z Duke My current bullpen (4 relievers needed) Papelbon Valverde Miceli BJ Ryan Dempster Trade offered: Receive - Erik Bedard Trade - Papelbon Seems like a no brainer since I need an extra starter and I have a surplus of relievers. But as it stands right now, Valverde is getting maybe 1 save attempt a week, Miceli is getting 1-2 but on a very short leash, Dempster and Ryan are pretty solid. I know saves are just one stat, but its a stat I am dominating in. Plus Papelbon has the ability to post a low WHIP and high K rate and the possibility of being a starter later in the season. So opinions are greatly appreciated, because the other team wants to get this trade done today!

    I dunno why, but whenever someone hits a ball to LF and Murton is tracking under it, I keep thinking he looks like Dutchvalue and I shudder before realizing its Murt.

    Either he has to stop going back there if he isn't getting the call, or he can't control his pitches well enough to stop hitting that spot.

    I think Z needs to skip a start or something to calm him down and remotivate him. Frustrating to watch him throw these 5.2 IP 110 pitch outings.

    are you saying he's sucked? I'm saying hes walked 3 batters and thrown 90 pitches in 5 innings. No he hasn't sucked, but it does continue his overall trend of walking batters and not making it to the 7th inning, things that you expect your ace to do.

    Z has really gotta snap out of this. We really need him to pitch more then 6 innings a start. Its hard to be a badass when you suck.

    Really worried about Z's walk rate this year... if he wasn't as unhittable and under ideal conditions tonight, we could be in big trouble.

    Anyone else worried about the Astros this year? Their offense has been rather suprising, and they don't seem to be missing Clemens much in their rotation...the Central is really bothering me considering the Astros have had their best start in history, the Cardinals are 8-2 in games that arent against the Cubs, and the Brewers have been hanging around.

    Thats a long game. Do you think the PawSox would have scored in the bottom of the 9th to tie it if they knew they'd have to play another 24 innings? :)

    From the Trib: First it was the last week of April, then it was first week of May, now its speculated to be the second week of May. Slowly the time table goes further and further away. Makes me wonder if, even with the knee setback, he could have been ready much earlier if he wasn't pitching in a futile attempt to finish .500 last year.

    I think the Cubs should give him all the leeway he wants to take his time considering they almost cost him his career by coming back to pitch that playoff game in 98. It did cost him his best pitch as well. Some say it would have happened anyway, but it sure didn't help pitching him that game. For the record though, as an impressionable 15 year old, I really wanted him to pitch that game too.
