    I've tried not being a fan. To my horror, I discovered it's a disease that has no cure. Believe me, if I could escape I would have long ago. I tried to become an Oakland fan the first time Dusty started Neifi this year, but I'm addicted. As much as I hate myself for it, I'm addicted. :) That's actually a good idea. When do Frank Thomas and Co. play today? Focus on the minor leaguers. There is always optimism in the future. No all they provide false hope that the future will be better when in my heart I know its not.

    This would be a 2 game losing streak....... No, I'm assuming the Cubs will go quietly and make this a 2 game losing streak. The 8th inning rally I'm refering to is the one in LA the other day.

    The Cubs are 1 random 8th inning rally from a 4 game losing streak. In fact come to think of it. If you take away 3 innings this year, the 7th against St Louis (saturday game) the 8th of the Sunday game, and the 8th inning of the LAD game, we'd be 6-10

    I wish I could just black out and wake up the next time the Cubs get to the playoffs. But I'm afraid my body won't hold up until 2089

    The Cubs suck, I won't truely think they hav a shot at the World Series until the entire organization is washed clean. They need new ownership, new front office all the way down to the manager, hell even change the uniforms and get rid of Wrigley Field.

    I hate the Cubs. I am sick of the negativity that surrounds them, I'm sick of hearing about curses, I'm sick of teams always getting the best of us, I'm sick of freak injuries, I'm sick of wondering how good my team would be in 3 of their 4 best players weren't hurt. I'm sick of it all.

    I don't understand why they don't skip Glendon and have Z pitch tomorrow. At this point, we don't need any more crappy performances. Z Maddux Marshall Rusch Jerome I mean I realize a rotation of Marshall Rusch and Williams is not idea for any series, but I'd rather finish STL strong and go into FLA with that.

    There are several factors aiding the Cubs, many that have been addressed: 1) This Cubs team, despite notable exceptions can put the ball into play, and refrain from striking out a bunch of times 2) If Eyre is ok, the Bullpen is pretty shut down, meaning that A) Starters won't have to labor as much, and B) If the Cubs can get a lead, they can feel confident that they don't need the extra offense. Sure you won't see as many 13-2 games, but you will see several 4-3 games in the Cubs favor 3) The rookies Murton and Cedeno have more then stepped up so far this year. While its not out of the realm that they will regress, so far they have showed no signs of that. Heck, Cedeno even drew 2 walks yesterday 4) The NL is weak, even if the Cubs play slighty under .500 with Lee gone, and the Cardinals play 10 games over .500, the NL Central will still be in reach if the pitchers and Lee are healthy for July-September Bottom line: I'm not saying the Cubs are going to win for sure, no one really knows how much of a loss Lee is to the team. Most people would argue that hes the single most important individual piece on the team. But the team can survive if he can come back in 2-3 months

    Seemingly 1 out of every 3 Ramirez throws to first strike the dirt before going in Lee's glove... Let's see how Walker does with that.

    cubs.com Translation: "We're going to get ripped off if we try and trade for a guy 2 weeks into the season when teams know we are in a dire situation, so we'll sit tight until we know how long he's out. Exactly. Hendry's NOT a dumbass. He's not going to give up studs in the farm for this. And why are we talking about trading Prior again? ....because he never pitches...

    Well at least Cubs tickets will be easy to get this year...how come none of the White Sox get injured?

    So 6 weeks in a cast, 3-4 weeks to build strength, 1-2 weeks of minor league rehab, 2-4 more weeks until he's really back to normal. That sounds like 10-12 weeks for him to get back on the field.

    Any team Hendry tries to aquire a 1B from is going to know how desperate we are to make a move and will make us pay.
