  1. That has nothing to do with the protest, it's an Oriole fan tradition to emphasize the O in the anthem. i misunderstood.....i thought they shouted "o" during the whole anthem... you mean like Blackhawks fans clapping and cheering through the whole thing? not that they do anymore..... Blackhawk....fans? Explain please
  2. I am not condoning this idea necessarily, but more or less the option is out there as I just noticed on the bottom line on ESPN.com that DBacks GM Josh Bynes has said that Luis Gonzalez will not be back with the team last year. .824 OPS this year....sounds too tempting for Hendry to pass up.
  3. Not coincidentally, he's also an idiot. Isn't that a requirement for working at ESPN?
  4. This taken from an ESPN.com article on the Orioles: I guess I should reserve judgement until I find out how many people are involved in this protest, but its good to see a disgruntled fan base can put together a decent protest. Every protest I've heard about for the Cubs has been given little to no support by Cubs fans. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=crasnick_jerry&id=2587235&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab2pos2
  5. Yeah, what is the rule of thumb, a GM gets 1 hand selected manager or two? Either way, from what I've read Hendry was influenced to hire Dusty so I am not sure he counts. Furthermore, he was hired what 6 months into Hendry's rein? I think he gets at least another year
  6. What a suprise, Juan Pierre picked off...
  7. Schlereth hates the Bears. So far he is the only person to pick against them in either week. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/features/talent
  8. Sounds completely mean spirited to me. I think its brilliant. I wouldn't actually ruin his painting though, I'd probably put some sort of plastic wrap around it before writing on the plastic. He would likely be very distracted.
  9. What makes me upset is that they've expanded their coverage to include all sports teams in Chicago, including the White Sox. Covering the White Sox alienates both White Sox fans, who see it as a Cubs paper attempting to increase readership, and Cubs fans, who think the paper is selling out. I guess I don't mind the Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks coverage, but then again the only place I've seen the paper distributed is around Wrigley and Lincoln Park.
  10. Can't believe he blew a big chance to make it big. he has only shown very brief flashes of success. I don't think he'll ever get a better shot to make it with this team again. Why wouldn't he get a shot next season? Zambrano FA Hill Marmol/Mateo Prior/either Mateo or Marmol/Marshall Seems to be the pecking order in my mind.

  12. They must have more speed and clog the bases less. They can really catch the ball. I saw John Kruk saying they "know" how to play the "game" today. Good pitching, fielding, and running the bases plus timely hitting. And if John Kruk says it you know it has to be true  You're damn right it has to be. Why don't we just get it over with and hire him as gm and Darren Daulton as manager? Might be good to hire Dutchie because he'll have incentive to win the Cubs a World Series before the world ends in 2012
  13. They must have more speed and clog the bases less.
  14. I saw that....tough blow, but I think that they will still win a playoff spot.
  15. My gut tells me Michigan will lose by 2 touchdowns this weekend. To me they havent looked impressive in either of their games, especially the defense. Plus theyve lost their road opener about 1 million times. I hope I'm wrong
  16. Key win to stay alive. Not only that but we gain a game in the standings.
  17. ^ If he was on the team and they kept him over Walker, he likely would have been gone by the trading deadline too.
  18. No, but I heard some others will be coming back from injury, most notably Mark Bradley. The team is remarkably healthy right now. Lets hope it stays that way *knocks on wood* I was very encouraged that Mike Brown was able to play and stay on the field all day Sunday after missing most of the preseason. If Hunter can't go, I wouldn't be that upset to see Leon Joe in there.
  19. If they were close to putting 40 up, just imagine how close we were to putting up 135 points
  20. Heh, anyone want to bump any of those "are the cubs really out of it?" threads from a few weeks ago?
  21. I know isn't it great! :D :D :D But c'mon guys, its still Cubs season. They deserve at least half of our attention for the stretch run! Wait, no just kidding.
  22. I guess its easy for Turner and Grossman to say this after the fact, but apparently Grossman's ill advised pass into the end zone in the first quarter yesterday that was intercepted was actually intended to end up in the stands as Grossman was trying to throw the ball away. Instead, Grossman was apparently hit as he threw, taking zip off the pass and putting it into the end zone where it was easily intercepted. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/cs-060911bears,1,208328.story?coll=cs-home-headlines
  23. Agreed, I know we've beaten this into the ground this year, but its still as valid as it was in April. Speed never slumps.
