  1. Yeesh this thread is silly
  2. Are you sure JP Ricciardi, Theo Epstein, Billy Beane or Paul DePodesta would? How about Jon Daniels or Chris Antonetti? It's funny because all the other GMs spit out RBI as a credible statistic, which when it was first invented in early 1900s the writers, players and GMs (or whatever they called themselves then) thought it was utterly stupid. Exactly, I think a lot of GMs that value what Drew brings to the game would take him over Soriano for 40 less games
  3. Keep drinking the kool-aid, sheep! Well c'mon, I am one of the ones that knows our money is best spent in 1 milllion different placecs. I know what his OPS+ was in 2004 and 2005. I am just saying...at least we're not making Sosa for Hairston lateral moves anymore.
  4. Kinda off topic. I am not a huge fan of this signing to be honest, but it is certainly a step in the right direction. For the first time since April, I have not had complete and utter pessimism and negativity towards the Cubs. It kinda feels good :) (by the way, I did NOT say I was optimistic yet )
  5. I'm sure Nomar blew this away
  6. Bulls gonna lose! 3-7!
  7. We'll probably know by tommorow at the press conference, but from what Kaplan and other beat writers/analysts its looking like 5 years/85M with 3 option years at 17M each, or it could be 6 years/98M with 2 options years for 19M each. Those options don't make sense to me. If they are team options, I highly doubt that the Cubs would pick them up given his age. Why would Soriano allow that? If they are player options, unless Soriano becomes an all time great (he wont) why wouldn't he pick them up?
  8. That's gotta be Lugo because I think Drew is out of their price range now
  9. I'd love to get Jennings personally....regardless, the remaining choices aren't exactly WHIP friendly...and we all know how Larry does with WHIP
  10. http://www.philliesphans.com/phorum/viewtopic.php?t=37121 Phillies reaction is mixed
  11. I just don't get it why people think this is the best player available.... I will say though, I can never again say that the Cubs have never signed the most coveted FA on the market.
  12. starting to feel better...regaining optimism. I hope so, Hendry can't be that dumb can he??
  13. Can we still sign Drew? Bold prediction: Soriano never puts up a .900 OPS with the Cubs
  14. What a weird game so far, but you know teams look weird from week to week. The Jags pretty much will score 40 one week and 3 the next. The bottom line is that we win these games, and that's what we are doing so far.
  15. Do you think Grossman has some sort of undisclosed injury, and they are afraid that if they play Griese and he plays well, the media circus will put unbelievable pressure on the QB situation

  17. WHY ARE THEY GOING FOR SIX YARDS ON A THIRD AND FIFTEEN?!?!? WHY IS JOHN SHOOP RUNNING THE OFFENSE AGAIN?!?!?
  18. Nathan the Masher Thrasher Slasher Vasher
  19. .268/.302/.430/.732 Thats my prediction for his numbers when he's 38. And making 17 million
  20. What the crap...he's gonna be 38 putting up terrible numbers making 17 milllion. Terrible signing
  21. I just don't understand the game plan in the first half....
  22. Who is running this offense, John Shoop??!?! 5/9 for 7 yards?
  23. I think Turner opens up the offense a little bit in the second half. he has to, this is not the game plan that I'm used to seeing with Rexy
