  1. DONTRELLE HAS A WHIP OVER 1.60 FOR CHRIST SAKE TAKE A WALK
  2. I think we need to do better than that. I'm expecting Milwaukee to win 5 out of their last 6. We would goto a 1 game playoff then
  3. This is ridiculous, the Cubs are going to collapse 3 times in a 5 year span. If we blow this division lead, I have to do something for my sanity. If they blow this lead, I will be fully convinced that the Cubs will never win the World Series
  4. I honestly had a terrible feeling about this from the moment I woke up today, despite what I said at the start of my game thread. I really hope we can win 2 of these final 6 games.
  5. Do you think playing in front of 500 people can actually hurt the Cubs concentration
  6. What next a grounder hitting off first base?
  7. SWEET We're losing. We are going to blow this thing. Somebody calm me down
  8. Lilly does not have it tonight. Not that he's getting hit hard, but they are making solid contact and he doesn't seem to be locating well
  9. Well a depressing first 2 innings. So much for our ability to hit lefties (so far)
  10. Phew that was the most tense top of the 1st that I've dealt with in awhile. I think the last games of this season are going to kill me until they clinch
  11. Is really blue on the WCIU telecast or is it just me?
  12. Man I didn't realize the power the Marlins have in their starting lineup. Cabrera - 33 Uggla - 31 Ramirez - 28 Willingham - 21 Hermida - 17 Jacobs - 17 Olivo - 16 Compare that with the Cubs top 7 in HRs Soriano - 31 Ramirez - 26 Lee - 20 DeRosa - 10 Floyd - 9 Murton - 7 Jones - 5 Thats 163 for their top 7 vs. 108 for ours. Lilly is a fly ball pitching. We'd better come out ready to get on base and match them in runs this series.
  13. Win this tonight. If we win our last 2 series, we are in despite what the Brewers do. Trachsel pitching on Thursday doesn't exactly excite me, so we have to get it done today.
  14. The most excited I've ever been as a Cubs fan. I'm definitely down for some recreation on their part. That was the one time in my life I really let my guard down with them. I thought for sure after that game we were going to the World Series. I thought for sure in 1984 we were going to the World Series. That scared me as a Cubs fan forever. I knew in 2003 after game 5 we were in trouble. We looked flat in that game. After the game I went on espn.com message board and told everyone that we are going to blow this. I just felt it. Of course everyone laughed at me... I was on ESPN at the same time and was telling people to quit projecting possible World Series rotation matchups, as we hadn't won anything yet. I remember after game 4 hearing people on ESPN discussing whether they wanted the Cubs to lose game 5 so that they could win at home. Unbelievable in retrospect.
  15. Lane's splits vs. MIL over the past 3 seasons: .300/.385/.660/1.045
  16. Sorry if this has already been mentioned somewhere else or if it isn't noteworthy news deserving of its own thread. But if this is a legit injury, with the Reds out of contention with a week to go, they might go the precautionary route and sit him the rest of the season http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6763/news
  17. Everyone is freaking out because 2004 is still fresh in our minds. We expect to see the Cubs collpase down the stretch, and it might end up being that way. If fact, if any team would collapse in this situation it would be the Cubs. But the chances of that are statistically insignificant. So let the Brewers and their fans have a night to think that they are still in it, and tomorrow we go out and show them that we are not rolling over and letting them back in this. I am one of the boards biggest pessimistics and I am telling this to you. We all but won this thing on Sunday, and I am willing to stake my reputation on the fact that we have nothing to worry about.
  18. OMG it's 12-5. It won't happen but if the Brewers bullpen lost this game, it would be one of the most crippling losses of all time
  19. I'm starting this thread so that people can stop freaking out about the Brewers win tonight. Sure its not ideal, but if the Cubs can win 3 out of their last 6 games, the only way the Brewers matter is if they run the table. Cubs record....Brewers to tie...to win 0-6...4-3...5-2 1-5...5-2...6-1 2-4...6-1...7-0 3-3...7-0...N/A 4-2...N/A...N/A 5-1...N/A...N/A 6-0...N/A...N/A
  20. Cubs record...Brewers record to tie...to win 0-6...3-3...4-2 1-5...4-2...5-1 2-4...5-1...6-0 3-3...6-0...N/A 4-2...N/A...N/A 5-1...N/A...N/A 6-0...N/A...N/A Updated for today's win If we go 2-4, they have to take 3/4 from the Padres to just tie. We're fine as long as we win 2 more games.
