  1. i thought he said that he was going to be in town doing the DePaul game but he'd be at Opening Day. I could have misheard though DePaul game? On March 31st? Thats the weekend of the Sweet 16/Elite 8 IIRC.
  2. yikes I know, and with such an important game on the line too I think hes scared that Theriot and Cedeno are hitting 1-2. In any lineup, exhibition or not, its scary.
  3. Yes. If you don't walk at all and you get out on a sacrifice fly/bunt. You are not credited with an AB, but you are credited with a PA. So if a player goes 3/3 in a game with a sac fly, his BA that game is 1.000, and his OBP is .750
  4. Hasn't this been the knock on Cubs fandom over the past years, that their only support the team because they play in Wrigley. I love Wrigley as much as anyone, but I would definetly be at a bunch of games if they were playing in the cell. I would miss Wrigley for a summer for sure, but it would be a cool experience going to home games at the cell and frankly, would become a large part of Cubs history. I don't live anywhere near there and if I commit to going to Chicago, I want to see Wrigley as well. I'd rather watch the Cubs at Shea/Wash or Philly and save the money. So out of curiosity, if the Cubs decided to build a new ballpark in Schaumburg and tear down Wrigley, would you never come to Chicago to support the Cubs again?
  5. C'mon...no one has an opinion? You guys are mean :(
  6. I'm really only half kidding. I really hate the Cell and hope they don't decide to play there. Yes crime is bad there, and yes, its relatively safe IF you're there in a group. HOWEVER the park and its neighborhood are just lame and awful. Its surrounded by acres of parking lots!!! I wish they could play in Milwaukee instead. MUCH better neighborhood and better ballpark too!! I like the Cubs and all, but it'll get old watching them play some crappy team in a crappy ballpark. No thanks! i've gone there, by myself, at night, on the El, and have never had issues. there are thousands of people going to and from the park at game times...you're unlikely to be wandering dark alleys at night. also, while not Wrigley by a long shot, The Cell isn't a horrible place to see a game. Has anyone mentioned that the crime statistics are actually worse for the area surrounding Wrigley Field than the area surrounding US Cellular Field?
  7. Now that I think about it, this was probably the master plan for quite awhile. Everyone commented that it didn't make sense at all that they would sell Wrigley and the Cubs separately, but this makes sense why they would be doing that.
  8. my guess is they'll do something very similar to Soldier Field, wherein they retain the facade of the park and gut all the stands /clubhouses and start over I guess that wouldn't be too bad. I would like to see a plan first though. You know their main goal is to try to get as many luxury boxes in the park as possible, with little worry about how the rest of the ticketholders are effected.
  9. The thing that scares me is the thought of it having a Soldier Field makeover. I assume this means that they will tear down the existing ballpark and rebuild one in its place. The good news is that it has to fit on the plot of land it stands on so its not going to be some really spaced out ballpark with luxury boxes completely pushing back the upper deck into irrelevancy. Although they could take out the players parking lot and take over the space where they were planning on building the parking garage and make that part of the ballpark. Hmmm
  10. With our luck, that would the year we'd win the World Series too. Not that I'd mind winning the World Series but still...
  11. The link is from a BCB Diary, but he claims its from a WSCR update: http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/story/2008/2/26/131925/391 Ummm...interesting...
  12. http://www.bjacked.net/LuvToHunt/forums/phpBB2/modules/gallery/albums/album01/Beat_Dead_Horse.jpg I can't believe you've all been having the same discussion for the last 23 pages
  13. Man until like 2 weeks ago, I cared so much about this trade. Now I'm really really meh about the whole thing.
  14. douchebaggery at its finest. the author of nsbblol is the lowest kind of internet coward After reading a few posts there, I can tell exactly who writes there.
  15. Oh jeez, the cool police has determined that FJM is no longer cool. I knew it would happen sooner or later.
  16. I like it because you have to balance Starters, MRs and Closers. It is a dumb stat though, but I enjoy playing with it.
  17. My first draft of the year. I think I went way to much on potential and younger players for the most part. 10 teams R, SB, HR, RBI, OBP, OPS - W, SV, ERA, WHIP, K, HLD C - Saltalamaccia 1B - Hafner 2B - Phillips SS - Reyes 3B - Braun OF - Markakis OF - Hart OF - A. Jones CI - Youkilis MI - K. Johnson UTIL - T. Glaus UTIL - K. Fukudome BN - Adam Jones BN - Maybin (yeah I know I went for the unprovens way too early, but I'm a believer in over 50% of your final team will be created in season) SP - Bedard SP - Lincecum RP - Wagner RP - Corpas P - Oswalt P - Sheets P - J. Chamberlain P - Gregg BN - Howry BN - Bailey BN - Fuentes
  18. This thread and the whole concept behind it makes me laugh. Steal third? HAHAHAHA
  19. http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=141101&src=152 is the article http://www.firejoemorgan.com/2008/02/painting-by-numbers.html is the FJM piece They are more or less ripping on Theriot's quote more than Bruce's writing.

  21. Appreciate the news, but you have like 6 topics out there with things you've seen and heard yet you make no mention of where you heard the info. Can you provide a link or source? Thanks do you think i lie? No, I would just like to read more about Oswalt throwing a knuckle than "well supposedly"

  23. Poor guy, hope he's alright. But this goes to show you that having a player like Roberts to provide us depth would only help the team greatly. If DeRosa had a heart condition or even injury and missed extended time, our new starting 2B right now would be Mike Fontenot or Alex Cintron.
  24. After seeing yesterday's three team 11 player Bulls trade go through in like 45 minutes I have no idea why this has to take over 3 months to complete.
