  1. They'd rather not take the PR hit and risk losing him to the Penal League halfway through the season.
  2. Alrighty. Hopefully he looked good in getting shelled
  3. Look for this trade to be announced today, so as to not give Brett Favre's retirement its day in the sun.
  4. This seems weird that Kenney is so vocal about trades getting done.... It's almost like Kenny wants Hendry to get these deals done no matter what and is putting pressure through the radio to get them done no matter what. Obviously it kills Jimbo's leverage but still. Or maybe he just likes getting the fans hopes up.
  5. I think Packers fans have been blessed with some great long term QBs and don't realize how hard it is to find a good QB in the NFL. Rude awakening next year.
  6. Fixed as something I would have said after 2005 or 2006 even. Young talent: Lance Briggs, Nathan Vasher, Cedric Benson, Rex Grossman, Daniel Manning, Devin Hester, Tommie Harris, Dusty Dvorchek, Bernard Berrian, Mark Bradley It's ridiculous to assume Rodgers would take over with no growning pains.
  7. Wishful thinking. No Gallagher = No trade. Yup, Fuld means nothing to them, they are satisfied with their OF of Luke Scott, Adam Jones and Nick Markakis (which is actually pretty good). Murton MIGHT interest them over Scott but including him even wouldn't be overwhelming. Pie would get them talking (but of course we won't do that.) The rest of the deal looks up to par, but you're going to have to switch Fuld with Gallagher unfortunately. Ideally, I'd love Gallagher, Patterson, Veal, Marquis for Roberts and Payton, but I don't think the Orioles would do that.
  8. Absolutely unacceptable. The Bears had been rebuilding for years and years (with the exception of the fluke 2001 season). They finally make it back to the playoffs for two years. Rebuilding AGAIN so quickly after only two playoff appearances is not an option. Yes but its the NFL. Very few teams can have sustained periods of success. How many current teams have made the playoffs 3 years in a row? The Bradys and the Mannings and the Seahawks. That's it. Even in a terrible NFC, only one team can consistently be good. Rebuilding doesn't have to be 4-12 rebuilding. It can be 8-8 rebuilding. I'm not saying its an excuse, and I'm upset the way this offseason has gone, but maybe they realized that they needed to get better and they couldn't do it in oe offseason.
  9. Let's set the tone for the regular season today.
  10. So 7-10 more days. That takes us to March 10-13th. Wow has this dragged on
  11. So not realizing Ayenbadejo was going to be a FA after the season, I was at the Bears/Saints game at the end of the year. My friend works in the pro shop making customized jerseys, and he told me he could make me one. Trying to be trendy and get a jersey that no one else has, I told him to make me Ayenbadejo jersey. I am going to get 1/2 of a game use out of it....darn
  12. Looks like we'll see the Reds at the bottom of the OBP standings for awhile, Dunn or no Dunn
  13. After Howry gives up 3 runs in the ninth.... CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!
  14. Howry is nicely putting the game in a save situation so that he can prove that he can close games.
  15. It seems like the Northside 9 have put some runs on the board.
  16. And Michael Barrett
  17. Hopefully the Baltimore scouts had the chili and had to make a trip to the restroom right now.
  18. I just don't think there's anything (outside of punishing the players for doing it), that will stop some guys from diving into 1B. Didn't you hear? It's faster to dive into first! One of our posters did a test of 10 people.
  19. I'm not worried just yet. It's the guy's first plate appearances against an entirely new set of pitchers, and this is only the 4th game he's played in. He's not going to be tagging everything thrown his way immediately. I'm just saying, this is the same thing that beat writers were saying after watching him hit in BP. BP pitches are not the same as in game pitches.
  20. Is anyone worried about Fukudome's inability to hit it out of the infield (save his lone hit, which was a bouncer down the line) so far in Spring? I heard multiple reports from AZ about observes commenting on Fukudomes lack of power in batting practice, and nothing has changed when the games started either. Bruce maybe you could shed some light.
  21. Who is left at WR? Moss (not a chance), Walker (probably not a chance) and Hackett (will have to overpay for him)
  22. He's going to pitch today, but Lieber is starting.
  23. Me trying to be cool and draw attention to my 15,000th post by pretending I realized after the fact that I hit 15,000.
  24. Any word on when Ramirez is going to be making his debut? Thanks as always for the lineups. Fake edit: 15,000! Lou said yesterday, and I think we all wrote it for today, that Ramirez may be able to go tomorrow. Shows what happens when I don't do my daily readings of the local papers.
