  1. that would probably mean the Cubs get Byrd from Texas since they just traded for Hamilton. Like 3 months ago...
  2. since you were too busy to notice, only the Padres and Red Sox gave up less runs than the Cubs last year -- 17 teams scored more runs than the Cubs last year Accounting for Career seasons by Lilly, Hill, Marshall and a great half by Marquis. Replace Marshall and his sub 4.00 ERA with Dempster and his career starting ERA in the mid 4's, and then expect a regression by Lilly and we'll see where we stand.
  3. I will start the game thread since I am going to the game shorty. Lets go Z! Raisin, if you are still going to the game and see this, PM me your number so we can meet up!
  4. I think those choices were intentionally picked because of their race.
  5. I am kinda rooting for the Cubs to suck here offensively, because it would be an absolutely stupid move to hit Fuku and his high OBP 5th, and Soriano and his low OBP 2nd. I mean completely backwards.
  6. Yeah I kinda got stuck in a position where i was one pick away from getting another SP and my target was taken. One major example is when someone took Tim Lincecum, my mancrush, one pick before me. That said, I have the ability to make some trades.
  7. Remember when we were going to trade Aramis for Ervin Santana?
  8. Since no one responded to my first rate my team a couple of weeks ago, I will try again with my next team. 10 team 6x6 league (avg, obp, hr, r, rbi, sb) x (w, k, era, whip, sv, hold). I can see a couple of major areas of vulnerability, but I feel I have the core in place to do well. C - Joe Mauer 1B - Lance Berkman 2B - Rickie Weeks SS - Jose Reyes 3B - Ryan Zimmerman OF - Vladimir Guerrero OF - Corey Hart OF - Jermaine Dye OF - Josh Hamilton OF - Pat Burrell CI - Travis Hafner MI - Kazuo Matsui UT - Bill Hall UT - Akinori Iwamura UT - Luke Scott BN - Adam Jones BN - J.R. Towles SP - Erik Bedard SP - Cole Hamels RP - Jose Valverde RP - Manny Corpas RP - Chad Cordero P - OPR (Rich Hill) P - Jered Weaver P - Joakim Soria P - Scott Shields P - Jamie Walker P - Octavio Dotel BN - Juan Cruz As you can see, 29 player teams, so its pretty deep. Meh, now that I type it out, I could have done better. How do you guys feel?
  9. Thats exactly how I feel but I was too young for 1984. I punched a hole in the wall in 1989.
  10. William Jennings Bryan
  11. I think thats the reason why the Cubs were talking to the Sox.
  12. This turns the Cardinals from a 72 win team to a 71 win team!
  13. He's trying to raise that trade value. With a 1:1 Balls to strikes ratio
  14. Pretty sure the Trachsel deal last year didn't go on for very long and also the Tejada deal this year didn't drag on and on. It was rumored for a couple of weeks but went down pretty quickly. Not nearly as fast as the Renteria trade went down, but it certainly didn't drag on like "every deal the O's make" like you are saying. The Trachsel trade was a minor one, although they got a great return for him. Tejada dragged on for a couple of weeks with false reports, but they wanted to hurry and trade him before the Mitchell Report came out so they had a deadline in mind. The Bedard and Roberts trades will shape the face of the franchise for years, so they are taking their time with it. Understandable, but its getting a bit ridiculous at this point.
  15. I didn't hear/see the report, but I'd be more scared that the White Sox are making a late play for Roberts.
  16. Nevermind pitching himself out of the closers role, Howry is pitching himself off the roster.
  17. Can someone PM me when there is some updated news about Roberts? I promised myself that I wouldn't view this thread for 3 days anytime the wrigley23/soriano/leadoff issue was brought up.
  18. What's to discuss? Can we discussed if Brian Roberts it the long lost brother of Eric and Julia? Or is Dayton's Brian Roberts a clone of the Orioles Brian Roberts?
  19. All this is going to do is confuse everyone.
  20. I'm sorry if Hendry is held accountable for the players on the field, then I just don't get it. He's not the MANAGER. Now if Hendry doesn't do everything in his power to improve the holes on this team, then yes, I would him accountable. But to hold him accountable for the players on the field, is simply wrong. What on earth are you talking about? You're right. General managers shouldn't be held accountable for how their teams perform. Or not. If you spent $120 million on a baseball team and they don't win 80 games, you can and should be held accountable. I don't care if all the players hit 50 OPS points below their average or give up a run more than their career averages. The GM must be held responsible for that. Fire the manager too if you have to.
  21. Because now they are looking at him.....WITH THEIR EYES!
