  1. Bruce are we free to use your information to update the fans on the Orioles Hangout forum or do you prefer to keep the information on this site only? The reason I ask is because several of their posters claim to have inside information from the Orioles that claim that this deal is 100% done, and I wanted to see what they thought about your insight. As everyone else said, I hope all is well with your family.
  2. I can't see Derrek getting over 30 again. I don't think its unrealistic to see Lee get over 30. Who knows why his power numbers were so bad to start '07 (wrist or any other explanations), but he was quite studly to end the season. No 2005 Lee will never come back, but I think we could hope for 04 Lee (32 HR) at least and if you think his 2004 numbers aren't bad, consider that his OBP and SLG were both higher last year. Please don't underestimate Lee's value to the 2007 Cubs because only 22 of his hits went over the fence.
  3. You do notice that not a single NSBB insider has verified this story don't you? 98navigator posted info from his source in the media, but the info was that the trade was close but with different names then mentioned in the OH report.
  4. How many of these will there be?: "How did we get to 100 pages about a Brian Roberts trade that hasn't happened yet?" 90 pages on the potential of a Brian Roberts trade that may or may not happen, compared to the 9 pages of the NBA for the entire season. Man the NBA sucks. I'm sure SecondCityHoops has a 90+ page thread about Gasol/McGrady to Bulls trade rumors. Oh wait...
  5. The teams that score the most runs each season are the teams who put up the best team OBP. The more your team is on base, the more the team scores, the more plate appearances guys get. If you go back to Derrek Lee's 2005, not only did Lee suffer on plate appearances because of the poorly constructed line up, he had limited at bats with runners on base. His 99 XBH's that season ranks among the top offensive seasons in baseball history. It is absolutely mind boggling that with that production while hitting number 3 in the lineup that he barely reached 100 RBIs. He led the league in: BA SLG OPS Hits Total Bases Doubles Runs Created XBH In the top 5 in: OBP (4th) Runs (2nd) HR (2nd) But finished distant 7th in RBI That's what happens when you put Neifi Perez batting 1st or 2nd. Funny you mention that. If anyone has that Cubs DVD set that they released of great games for the Cubs, they randomly have a Derrek Lee 5-5 game against the Dodgers on there (Jon Koronka the starting pitcher). The funny thing about it is, the Cubs 1-2 hitters for that game were Neifi and Enrique Wilson. Wow, thanks MLB for the great DVDs of painful Cubs memories. (BTW Neifi goes 4-5 with a HR in the game)

  7. How is a left handed 25 year old starting pitcher comparable to Murton? The upside on Marshall is way more than Murton. Because maybe the 25 year old starting pitcher doesn't have an upside of more than #4 starter.
  8. And then he goes on to suggest Theriot hit in the 2 spot!
  9. BTW, I hope the trade is Marshall out and Murton in. It makes much more sense for the Cubs to trade Murton rather than Marshall and I would assume they are comparable in value to most teams. I love Murt but JH has made it so there is no place on the team for him.
  10. Chicagosports.com has the Roberts trade on the front page but the link doesnt work.
  11. Once again, put a lot of credence in this or none at all. It's certainly subject to change, as this whole strange process has a few times. Crap, Hendry bid against himself again. Zambrano and Pie going over to the O's Edit: Oh and some credit for Nav please. He posted this a half hour ago and no one really said anything. Do you have a source Nav or was that just an educated guess?
  12. You can make this trade look really bad for the Cubs. Two of the Cubs biggest problems were offense at SS and starting pitching depth, particularly at the backend. So we solved this by trading our most MLB ready SS prospect and two starting pitchers for an admitted steroid user at a position that we were very set at.
  13. OK lets just go after Jeter or Hanley Ramirez then. Oh wait there is no way they will get traded. Greene keeps getting mentioned because of a rumor that he was available for Pie last May. Right now, not too many better SSs are rumored to be out there, hence why Greene is mentioned so often.
  14. More rampant speculation from the O's board. The same guy thats proclaiming the deal is close is now saying: They are probably all laughing at us Edit: Belkast is saying:
  15. Going with a Packers fan here for some reason.
  16. I see the speed debate is back again. Didn't the 2006 Cubs teach anyone anything?
  17. Website. Please. Here is a site with a bunch of good shirts including that one: http://www.cafepress.com/cubsbleacherbum/2619316
  18. I want this shirt: http://jitcrunch.cafepress.com/jitcrunch.aspx?bG9hZD1ibGFuayxibGFuazozOF9GX2M0LmpwZ3xsb2FkPUwwLGh0dHA6Ly9pbWFnZXMuY2FmZXByZXNzLmNvbS9pbWFnZS8yNDQzOTUyNl80MDB4NDAwLnBuZ3x8c2NhbGU9TDAsMTcwLDE3MCxXaGl0ZXxjb21wb3NlPWJsYW5rLEwwLEFkZCwxNjIsOTN8Y3A9cmVzdWx0LGJsYW5rfHNjYWxlPXJlc3VsdCwwLDQ4MCxXaGl0ZXxjb21wcmVzc2lvbj05NXw=
  19. FWIW, we are not the only ones that value our prospects highly. The people on the Orioles board are currently comparing Sam Fuld to Reggie Willits
