  1. I'll take 1 run and 6 hits through six any day Obviously, but it wasnt because he had a good game. He got very lucky. Why is everyone talking in the past tense? He's only thrown 82 pitches through 6!
  2. I'll take 1 run and 6 hits through six any day Yeah but that doesn't take into account the hard hit balls that he's given up. The numbers look good, but don't reflect the quality of his pitching.
  3. Cubs have had some hard hit balls that have been caught as well. Fukudome flied out to the wall, Soto had a line out to left, the DP in the first inning was a hard hit grounder that Tulowitzki made a great play on. Yeah and those all happened in the first couple innings, when the Cubs drew 2 walks, had 2 hits and scored a run. Since then nothing.
  4. That's what I'm saying. He should have given up 4-5 runs already. This reminds me of his start against the Brewers at Wrigley last year when he gave up all those hard hit balls but they were killed by the wind.
  5. 4 pitch walk. Marquis looks completely awful today, and somehow has only given up 1 run.
  6. Hope the bullpen is ready so spring into action.
  7. 13 straight....what happened to their patience. I know it's getaway day but wow 68 pitches through 6 innings????
  8. Worst game that could be considered a 'pitchers duel' ever. How the heck has Marquis not given up like 5 runs today?
  9. Podsednik 4-4 this series jeez. He now has 7 hits on the year.
  10. 9-1-2 with 1 and 2 being Podsednik and Barmes? Not too worried. Although it is Marquis pitching...
  11. This is not like the Cubs to have been retired 10 straight times. Just not our day offensively so far.
  12. BB Totals so far this year: Fukudome - 18 Soto - 13 Ramirez - 13 DeRosa - 11 Lee - 9 I realize. But Ramirez doesn't have that patience with him today. Maybe he'll find it later. He has stupid patience. He doesn't come up to the plate in certain situations to walk. Which sometimes is good because he'll double or HR. But other times, he'll swing at 3 bad pitches and strike out. That said, I think the 13 walks is an abnormality that will straighten itself out by the end of the year, when Ramirez goes back to being the above average .360 OBP guy he is.
  13. Jason Marquis is in rare form, even for him, today.
  14. Oh, so he wasn't the one that scored from 1st last night in the 9th? Thats not why the White Sox won the world series in 2005 though.
  15. Great start. The good news is Podsednik is only apparently valuable leading off the game, so he'll be useless the rest of the game.
  16. Sample size. Either that or...Fontenot blows I might be incorrect, but sample should have nothing to do with it. I think the initial question of how that was possible because Soriano has been out the past 8 games, but he played in the first 2 games of the past 10. So he has data. Limited data, but data none the less. Given, the sample size comes into question for consistency of data. Fontenot's OPS for his 20 ab's is obviously a stronger indicator for his performance than Soriano's OPS for his 6 ab's could more easily be a variance from the mean. Edit: So I was agreeing with your second statement. Font blows. Oh, I agree. The point makes no sense. OPS is not a counting stat. Soriano could have had a great game in his last game, and Fontenot has been terrible.
  17. Sample size. Either that or...Fontenot blows
  18. When I started reading that lineup card, I assumed that the poster was making a joke lineup.
  19. Can our starters please start going more than 5-6 innings? That is my only gripe for this team right now...
  20. One of the things thats good is that we haven't gotten one of those "We should have won this game" losses that teams get 4-5 times every year. Last year we had about 4 of them to this point.
  21. Would like to know this as well, wanted to record it but I was out of town and couldn't get a hold of my roommate to set it up on the DVR. I believe they announced on Monday that it was going to be replayed on May 5th. I could be wrong about the exact date, but I know for a fact they said it would be replayed, and I'm pretty sure it was within the first 10 days of May.
  22. Well because Prince is still good and will probably hit 40-50 HRs this year. That said, in your situation its a no brainer to reject that trade. But in a vacuum it might not be a horrible trade
