I know this has been discussed a lot, but seriously this is horrible to bat Fukudome 5th. I would think this is the spot you LEAST want to put your best OBP guy. You don't want him having to worry about being agressive where he can drive home the 1-4 hitters. UGH I am revising my projected Fukudome OBP to .345. So Lou's great lineup has the worst hitter leading off, the worst possible #2 hitter hitting #2, and the best OBP guy hitting 5th.
Well at least Lieber doesn't walk much? Why would he sign here to be the long reliever? I'm sure they are going to trade Marquis, and having him "win" a rotation spot will only help his trade value.
and Kendall I see this posted time and again here, obviously based on the events of 2007. I'd be willing to wager, however, that his numbers will be nearer to .300 than .250. Kendall's not gonna be the Jonah that many Cubs fans think for the Brewers IMO... Who cares? He'll still have an OBP at best of .350 and a SLG of .330. And he'll probably throw out 15% of attempted base stealers as well.
That's overreacting? Les Walrond, save 4-5 starts in 2006 is a career minor leaguer. I'll give you the former comment, barely. Overreactions are much much much worse in the regular season, as you know of course.
But I'm pretty sure the networks might want a refund if the games aren't played. Networks? What could they be paying for games that will air at 3am? Red Sox fans alone will get them decent enough ratings. Then you add in the Bay Area and interested baseball fans across the country. That alone will get you better ratings than the average Friday evening NBA game. Then you include the Japanese market, especially excited for a Dice-K start in his homeland, and there is of course a lot of money on the line.
Yes we should. Probably not this year but eventually. I think they have high hopes for him. As for the Brewers, you're damn right we should be worried. I actually think they are the slight favorites if both teams stay the way they are.
