  1. No we can't use that. It took him 3 pitches to get that hit. If you can't do it in 1-2 pitches, you don't deserve to hit in the top 2 in the lineup
  2. Sammy Sosa, Ernie Banks, Ron Santo, Ryne Sandberg and Billy Williams for Babe Ruth, Lou Gerieg, Joe Dimaggio, Mickie Mantle and Alex Rodriguez
  3. The Tigers. Everyone on the Tigers.
  4. That is not an insane proposition. And it's practically a lock when you then take the Soriano money and apply it to another position. With Jim Hendry writing the checks? If we had Soriano's money last offseason he probably would have "bought" Kyle Loshe and 3-4 second basemen. Even if Murton hit with an equal OPS as Soriano this year, Soriano's arm would far outshine Murton's horrible defense in left. That said, to the OP, I'd also choose Soriano. Horrible contract.
  5. Is that the Cubs record after this game, or a very optimistic prediction of Soriano's day tomorrow?
  6. Yup. Two games under .500. Time to jump. Are we not in a 2 game hole? Do we not have to get out of it to have a successful season? Point made. are you this irrational in real life or only about the cubs WTF is irrational about that? I'm not the one telling people to bench Pie or talking about must win series in April. All I said is that we're getting off to a slow start, just like last year, and were already facing the prospect of digging out of holes. Make sense now? Blah blah blah blah 4 games. I know that. Just a blanket statement I made, one that is less irrational than half the posts on this board right now, that I am forced to defend a few times now.

  8. Yay for having to dig out of holes again!
  9. Man Fukudome is the only person with a clue on how to hit isn't he?
  10. I'm not watching the game. Is Hill "settling in" right now, or is he still rather erratic?
  11. Took Fukudome 4 games for him to clearly become the best player on the team (I'm kidding...I think..)
  12. C'mon Tigers, cut this crap out. The last thing we need is the White Sox gaining momentum early in the season. Every time the Sox go on a run, I start to have flashbacks to 2005 when they inexplicably started winning and never stopped.
  13. In case anyone was wondering Houston M. Bourn cf H. Pence rf L. Berkman 1b C. Lee lf M. Tejada ss T. Wigginton 3b M. Loretta 2b J.R. Towles c C. Sampson p Chi Cubs A. Soriano lf R. Theriot ss D. Lee 1b A. Ramirez 3b K. Fukudome rf M. DeRosa 2b G. Soto c F. Pie cf R. Hill p
  14. Well, he's right, if we didn't have Jones in either RF or CF, there would be no one there to catch the flyballs. I mean, Soriano's fast, but he's not that fast. I guess they could have put that Cliff Floyd guy in there. Or Matt Murton even.
  15. While I agree that the rotation could be an issue, I dont know how you get that from the first 3 games. Z and Demp both had very solid outings, and while Lilly was horrible, I doubt hed be the one replaced if it came to it. I would however go for a pitcher, as Marquis is sure to implode around that time regardless of how he does the first few months. I meant more or less that I think the offense will be fine. The end result (runs) wasn't there, but I saw enough from the guys I had questions about (Soto, Pie, Fukudome) to tell me we will be fine on offense.
  16. Harden. I could be wrong but after the first few games of the season, I think the rotation will be a bigger issue than the offense come July. If Harden is still healthy in July, I think he's your best bet.
  17. Pirates Brewers Reds Astros Cardinals I don't hate the Brewers other than for divisional competition purposes.
  18. I wonder how Lou will configure the lineup with Reed Johnson in there. Will he just hit Pie 8th? Or will he go with his lefty lineup that he made up in Spring? Is that lineup still applicable now that Lou has given up on the Soriano down in the order experiment? IIRC, Lou said this would be the lineup vs. Lefties: Johnson Fukudome Lee Ramirez Soriano DeRosa Soto Theriot
  19. It's April. We'll get our chances to knock around the Giants and catch back up if we falter this weekend.
  20. GRRR No. Saturday's game will be the first I get to watch on TV all year...it doesn't even feel like its baseball season yet to me because I haven't got to watch any games.
  21. Hope you guys weren't among the 10-15k fans that boo'd Kerry on Monday.
