  1. I don't get why you people think this is a break for the Cubs...
  2. The Bears will likely be picking up a RB, unless they are dumb enough to guarantee a second round rookie a starting role before training camp begins. I really hope that RB they pick up isn't Shaun Alexander. Who else is out there though? Funny that the Bears are going to open up the season with 1-2 new WRs, a new starting RB, and a 2 headed QB competition.
  3. I think the White Sox are legit...their rotation is starting to throw like the 2005 White Sox, and other than Contreras they aren't Cardinal like flukes. Floyd is pitching a little over his head, but had the potential, Danks was one of, if not the top pitching prospect in baseball 2 years ago.
  4. If there was even a 75% chance Harden would stay healthy, I would take him over every other player mentioned including Sabathia
  5. This will forever be known as the Mark DeRosa game.
  6. Wow this is the first game Marquis has pitched this year where he actually looks good. He's had decent numbers in a couple of other starts, but more or less hasn't pitched all that well in those games. Now Lou will probably leave him in too long and he will give up the lead in the 7th or 8th inning.
  7. Am I reading that right? 0 BB's by Marquis today? Should that be a 10 in there?
  8. Are you trying to tell me that Josh Vitters 4 games played at high A this year aren't acceptable to you? Cmon he put up a .214/.214/.429 line!
  9. I think Soto is starting to turn it around. He's not getting the solid contact and line drives yet, but in the past week I've noticed that he's gone back to being more patient. That last AB was pretty good.
  10. Is Theriot the only regular hitting over .300 now? Geez.
  11. Alright, a walk will help Lee's Sorianoesque OBP
  12. I wish Andruw Jones was playing in this series.
  13. Dammit when I saw the bobble, I assumed Soriano would be safe.
  14. That .426 OBP looks awesome. I definitely think at this point and time he should be the starting catcher in the AS Game over Soto. McCann too.
  15. Pierre scraps his way to a run. Sucks that it will be unearned though.
  16. Good to see the Cubs have shorn up those fundamental problems they were having. I think Lou should schedule a practice tomorrow at Wrigley to work on fundamentals.
  17. And yet the ball has beaten the runner 8 of those times.
  18. I'm prepared, but I'll still be pissed off when it happens. I predict Single Walk Lineout Walk Single on an 0-2 pitch, 2 runs score. GIDP on a great play from Lee.
  19. A not worthwhile enough result to compensate for Lou's further security of the hit and run being an appropriate tactic 3 times every game.
  20. Man do I hate Jon Miller's gross overpronounciations. Aramees Ramirez Neifi Pear-ez
  21. UMFan fears success, we'll be 30 games over 500 in September and he'll be talking about it's not a team that can win in the playoffs. Seriously. The Cubs and Cards have played the same amount of home games. The Brewers are well on their way to being 13-20 on the road. I do fear success. My problem is I don't have perspective....sorry for the pessimism guys. I've tried to change it, but I've realized that its who I am and I've embraced it. :)
  22. Yup, and due to a heavy home schedule and good home field advantage, we've been able to build up a lead. Now we are going on the road more, and things will eventually even out. I hope I'm wrong, and I know that we're better than we've been in most years. But I don't think we are the unquestioned best team in the NL. Also, I predict the Dodgers make the playoffs this year if they can get one impact bat (which I realize isn't easy). Their pitching is really freaking good.
  23. Funny thing about the 2007 Brewers...they built up their record on a heavy home schedule with lots of sub .500 teams. Wonder if a similar thing will happen to this years Cubs if they prove that they can't win on the road consistantly like they have so far.
  24. Maybe he wants to get released? I would find a better way to go about it though.
  25. Looks like Collins isn't coming back afterall... http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080606-chicago-bulls-doug-collins,1,1622480.story
