  1. Seriously? I doubt that's true. Everything Lou has done this season suggests that he wants to win today's game, and not think about tomorrow.
  2. Another thing....can't Marmol just get 2 games or more off at some point. Does he have to pitch in every big situation every game? Edit: Looks like its already been discussed.
  3. Hawk has already brought up the Cubs losing two seperate times since the game ended.
  4. Now we have to worry about which teams gained ground on us. Milwaukee is only 6 back..
  5. We beat him last Monday. At home. And all we got off of him was a wind aided HR in the first and almost nothing afterwards. Balls at Dodger Stadium at night carry almost as bad as Petco.
  6. Honestly, Lou should consider moving Lee down in the order until he snaps out of this slump. Move Lee to 5th or 6th and Soto 3rd, although he's not exactly hitting really well either. He's hitting .225 with a .645ish OPS over his last 31 games. That's almost 20% of the season he's been hitting with a sub .650 OPS
  7. I'm guessing that he figures since Lilly only pitched 3 innings in the last game he could be extended a bit.
  8. Our luck has to run out eventually right?
  9. Third straight inning with a runner on second and 0 outs. Why wasn't Eyre in? He's well over 100 pitches!
  10. What is this infectious? Jeez. You can go all year without seeing a balk, and the Cubs get 2 in 2 games.
  11. I don't think I can make it up til the end of this one. I am really tired from the first 2 games. Of course this one has to be the closest of the 3 games.
  12. Been frustrating watching the Cubs offense today...but you gotta admint, old man Maddux is definitely on top of his game tonight.
  13. Probably a 50% chance or maybe a bit less Hey....unnecessary jump!
  14. Nice play! I was thinking for sure they would go for the DP, but I think this was the smart move. And Ramirez didn't hesitate at all before making the play which really helped him.
  15. Theriot has given the Padres 3 outs in the last 5 minutes.
  16. Good, Pujols won't play in both games tomorrow anyways, and DHs are rarely swept.
  17. Just win the Wild Card and then we're both happy :)
  18. I don't know but according to ESPN's RPI, the Brewers are right up there with the Cubs http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/rpi Cubs are the number 2 team, Brewers number 4. I'm guessing a big reason is SOS.
  19. Does anyone know if anything like that has ever happened? Two teams clinching the division and wild card while playing a series against each other. That would be kind of neat. The Yankees and Red Sox did that in 2005 I believe. on the last day of the season, wasn't it? Yeah...it really wasn't that cool for 2 reasons: 1) They finished with identical records, but the Yankees won the division on a tie breaker 2) The Indians swooned big time meaning by Saturday I believe both teams had clinched a playoff bearth, so the actual designation of who was Division Champ and who was Wild Card didn't matter too much
  20. So you're saying that they will win 14-1 then?

  22. The Cubs were 5-9 games up from mid-August on. So I wouldn't say run away like the 2004 Cardinals did, but it wasn't an epic race or anything.
  23. You know whats funny. When you win everyday, after awhile, the media treats some wins like a loss. Yesterday the whole story was how Marquis sucked, the middle relief couldn't hold it, etc. But they freaking won. I love it.
