  1. I know he was the last remianing player still on the team from the 85 Bears
  2. Of course, Pujols' injury is better than first thought, Soriano's will probably be worse.
  3. He still hasn't hit a lot of HRs, which I realize is extremely shortsided to base one's performance on. Wonder if the wrist injury is still affecting him, or if he's just waiting for a hot streak.
  4. Everytime Mike Fontenot bats, I am reminded of the movie "Rookie of the Year" when Henry is up to bat and the pitcher is yelling "CMON! THE KIDS GOT NO STRIKE ZONE!"
  5. Braden Looper's line tonight: 9 IP 3 H 0 ER 0 BB 4 K 98 P
  6. I'm reading that a broken hand is usually a 6-8 week injury... Funny...I just had this weird feeling when I saw Pujols go down that some sort of injury would happen to the Cubs..
  7. We won't miss a beat just like the Cardinals right?
  8. I bet it's broken. of course YOU do. It's a fastball right off the hand that is clutching a bat. That most likely will result in a broken bone from what I've seen. Just being honest. What exactly have you seen? I have no idea how serious the injury may or may not be. Although Soriano going to the hospital to get x-rays doesn't sound good. Getting an X-ray is a very common, not good or bad sign. Just X-ray it and see if there is anything there. I don't remember many players getting taken immediately to the hospital during a game to X-Ray something that was no big deal
  9. WOW! This is gonna be a fun month. That's not a horrible lineup if you take their 2008 performances seriously. If you're like me and you don't, then wow. Please please keep us as injury free as possible. This kind of stuff can happen to us just as easily as it happened to them.
  10. Shouldn't that be +3 (for the Cards at least)? I remember looking earlier today and seeing that they had outperformed their pythag. Sorry, that list is completely backwards. All the minuses should be pluses.
  11. If this doesnt send the Cards on a downword spiral into oblivion, nothing will. I want Pujols to be healthy. It's going to piss me off if they start to fall off now and all the Cardinals fans will blame it on him going down, and not that they are a huge fluke that would eventually right itself out.
  12. Just thought this was interesting. Real record deviation from Pythagorean record: Cubs +0 Cardinals -3 Brewers -2 Astros -2 Pirates -1 Reds +0
  13. If Harden stays healthy (as we know a huge if), he will pitch a crapload of innings. As it is, he's already thrown more innings this year than he has since 2005.
  14. Imagine if we were in last place instead of having the best record in baseball. Some people will bitch about the stupidest stuff no matter what. My favorite is the freaking out about Kerry Wood coming in to save a 1 run lead. You'd think he was awful. Yeah, a 3 run lead turns into a 1 run lead. What fan would care about that? Had nothing to do with Wood's level of talent. *shrug* I was never worried. I would've been pissed had they actually blown the lead, but we pretty much have the best team in baseball. What's to get so stressed about? :) I do remember getting extremely pissed when the 95-96 Bulls would lose, but those were extremely rare and I was 12. Man, you have no idea how a Bulls loss back in those days just completely ruined it. I remember in 95-96 when we lost 2 in a row, I think the second of those games was to Cleveland. I didn't want to goto school the next day.
  15. It's what I expect people to SAY in the heat of the moment during a game, but in a format like this, you have to actually type it out and then hit submit, which should allow even just a little restraint. Yea, I've always thought the same thing. While I'll swear at the TV and say stuff like "Damnit Aramis, you suck, WTF!" I've never actually felt inclined to type it out and post it... I agree, but clearly some people prefer typing it out. Maybe it's a way of venting. I do that. When something really annoying happens, it takes me at least 20 seconds to think rationally about it again.

My favorite is the freaking out about Kerry Wood coming in to save a 1 run lead. You'd think he was awful. No...if we were in last place, the fans would be much more apathetic. The difference is, our expectations have been raised, and we hold the Cubs to a higher level than we did in 2005, 2006 or even 2007 at this point in the year. We want to see Geo succeed so badly, because we know his succcess is a central piece to us winning the World Series. Well then, it'd be nice of some people would show even an iota of baseball acuity and post intelligently - identifying that Soto is a ROOKIE. And most ALL rookies have to adjust their game as they develop and as the league gets to know them. Still doesn't explain the people who STILL don't want to see Woody in a one run game despite peripherals that match the best relievers in baseball. That's just idiocy, in my opinion. It's called emotions. Raw emotions. It's why people either love or hate this particular forum. I say tons of crazy things in this forum, but it doesn't mean I believe most of the things I say.

  18. BTW, is Carlos the only one that hasn't been doing blue tops? If so, you gotta think they went back to the blues at Z's request.
  19. Seriously can our freaking bullpen ever give Kerry and Carlos a rest? EVER?
  20. Hopefully this will help his confidence
  21. That is the kind of stuff I would like to see Mr. Soto!
  22. Is Soto simply guessing on his swings?
  23. Why the hell is Fox allowed to sit in the dugout? He should be cut.
