    YAY!!!!!!!!!!! IM SO PUMPED! :lol: It's been a rare occurrence this season. :( Yeah the Cubs farm is depressing this year, to all those who don't follow it closely.

    I'm pretty sure the last couple of weeks is the fluke. I hope so....but some of these players don't have the track record of being high OBP guys. DeRosa, Cedeno, Theriot and Ramirez aren't .380-.400 OBP guys in their careers Fukudome and Soto are too inexperienced at MLB to know whether their OBPs are flukes, but I have noticed Soto being less selective lately and his OBP has fallen a bit (independant of his BA) Lee is actually below his usual OBP level, and as we all know Soriano doesn't have the best OBP skills.

    Again, is anyone alarmed that the Cubs walk rate has dropped quite a bit in the past couple of weeks? This was supposed to be the reason why our offense was doing so well. Was it a fluke?

    The good news: The Rays are losing, we could have sole possession of the best record in baseball by the end of the night. The bad news: The stupid White Sox are the ones beating them.

    How does that projec for the 10th vs. Atl? There is an off day on the 9th. Just curious as I am going to be there. My guess would be Lilly. There is an offday on the 9th, so they could skip him, but obviously there would be no reason to. 29 - Marquis, 30 - Lilly, 31 - Demp, 1 - Gallagher, 2 - Zambrano, 3 - Marquis, 4 - Lilly, 5 - Demp, 6 - Gallagher, 7 - Zambrano, 8 - Marquis, 9 - Off, 10 - Lilly

    Thats a good name that I hadn't thought of. That said, Dodgers will do everything it takes to win right now. They are good enough to stay within like 3-4 games of first place until the deadline. If that's the case, they won't sell.

    Soto will have a 3 day rest considering the Cubs have a day off after the all star break. The 4th day, he'll squat for 4 innings and get 2 ABs. I don't see what the big deal is.

    His OPS is already down to .892 for the year. So no I don't think as of right now, he should be in.

    I think if Dempster still has the 4th best ERA in baseball when pitchers are selected, he will be in.

    The Score is saying the idea is Collins is a short term hire, and the interviewing that Pax is doing is for assistants that will eventually succeed Collins as coach in 1-2 years. Interesting strategy to say the least.

The source said the deal is expected to be announced "sooner rather than later." Expect one of the other candidates general manager John Paxson interviewed to be one of Collins' assistants. Collins coached the Bulls from 1986-89 and took the Bulls to the Eastern Conference finals. He also coached the Detroit Pistons and later coached Michael Jordan on the Washington Wizards. Collins is an intense, fiery coach, who will remind some of Scott Skiles, who was fired on Christmas Eve. Recently, Collins said he didn't want to leave his broadcasting job with TNT.     Honestly, if it didn't cost that much, I'd take a flier. But I know the reason he hasn't signed yet is because he wants some sort of decent contract.

    At the end of his tenure with the Cubs when his knees got bad he had absolutely no range. One of my earlier Cubs memories was watching Dawson butcher a fly ball to right, and my dad saying "Geez, he needs to go to the AL and be a DH. He can't field anymore"

    Pitching probables for the series: Francis vs. Marquis Cook vs. Lilly _____ vs. Dempster Jiminez vs. Gallagher We have our 4 and 5 starters going this series, and our number 2 starter is matched up against probably their best, and a guy that owns us and has already owned us once this year. Honestly, the Rockies are down, but I'm thinking a split is likely here. Either that or I am just being a pessimistic jerk.
