    OK, I caved...I just turned the game on. Brewers up 4-3? I don't think I'm being my usual pessimistic self when I say with Sheets and Sabathia going the next 2 days, if we don't get our heads out of our butts, we could start the weekend in second place.

    Sure. Or you could walk a few extra blocks and get on the Sheridan stop instead of Addison. This way you get on before the mess that is the Addison stop and you'll get a seat :)

    How are they still called the "Cubs" in the title. I am not even sure if they are worthy of "Cobs" at this point. One more loss and I would suggest them being called the "Losers"

    That's all well and good, but as I previously pointed out, 5 of those runs were unnecessarily poured on on a team who didn't score a run all game; sure those 5 runs completely killed ANY hope for the Astros, but in the end were pretty much meaningless. 6 meaningful runs in Houston [and 0 so far in AZ], total. I'm still [-( over that crap. Yeah, I was kinda being sarcastic :)

    You should post what you posted early in today's game thread to get people off the ledge. It's after the game, no can do. (Honestly, I wonder what UMFan was like during the NBA Finals in the 90s.) Hey come on that post wasn't too irrational. Are any of those things I said not true? Yes. Cubs have 17 HR from the #3 spot (7th in NL) Cubs have .379 OBP from the #4 spot (3rd in NL) Cubs OPS with RISP is .811 (2nd in the NL) The RISP thing I'll give you. That's just been a trend in the small sample size since the break. The first 2 though show numbers that are heavily inflated by the first 2 months of the year. If you look at the numbers since June 1 you will see a big difference. Now while the numbers in April and May show the potential of this offense, the fact is, the overall team hitting numbers have declined in both Team OPS and Team OBP every single month since April. For the record, Lee has 2 HRs since June 1st and Ramirez has a .305 OBP since June 1st.

    On the bright side, our pythag record hasn't taken a hit, as we've outscore our opponents 11-8 since the second half started, despite a 1-3 record.
