Please we need to stop complaining about Marmol. Yes he's been overused this far, but despite some stupid decisions earlier in the year (the 2 IP appearances with a 5 run lead, etc), Lou is smartening up, and I think it has to do with that semi-rough stretch he had when he gave up some long balls. Since then, Lou has been using him in smaller <1 IP situations. Last week Marmol was on pace for about 109 IP, after a week of this shift, he's now on pace for 99 IP and 85 GP. Here is a look at some of the leaders in bullpen IP the last few years: 2007: Heath Bell 93.2 Saul Rivera 93.0 Peter Moylan 90.0 2006: Scott Proctor 102.0 Salomon Torres 93.1 Jon Rauch 91.1 Geoff Gerry 91.1 2005: Salomon Torres 94.2 Scott Shields 91.2 2004: Scott Shielfs 105.1 So while no one wants Marmol to pitch 105 IP this year, with a reduced workload that Lou is consciously giving him, he should end up around 85-95 IP this year. Please don't complain every time Marmol comes into the game.
