  1. Just out of curiosity...was there no chance that Cedeno could have scored on that double?
  2. If the Cubs need a reminder for motivation, the Brewers are playing the Astros tonight in Milwaukee. You need to win.
  3. Is Howry really coming in? Should I still be following the game :(
  4. I never thought I would read a Cubs boxscore that said Edmonds pinch hits for Samadrzija this year.
  5. Edmonds healthy enough to PH? I know Reed is 2-2 with a walk against righties today, but Edmonds is much better vs. righties
  6. They also rightly set the bar very low for a guy's Major League debut, especially one with Samardzija's background. Carlos Zambrano gives up some runs in some innings this year. Does that mean he's pitching horribly too?
  7. .278 vs. righties .277 vs. lefties coming into today. Don't have full rate stats handy but I'm sure its not a huge difference.
  8. Wait why is Fukudome hitting 5th again?
  9. I agree on every point. Agreed as well. I don't think the Marlins have much of a scouting report on him either so his 98 MPH fastball would presumably throw them off guard.
  10. The gamble by Lou failed, but it still wasn't a bad outing
  11. We should have scored more runs this game anyways. Damn you Ward
  12. Is Lee's DP quest the MLB or Cub all time record? Nice throw on a curve by the catcher. All time record, according to baseball reference
  13. Smart move to steal to avoid a potential grounder. Bad move to have Theriot steal because he's not very good at it.
  14. Please don't do what I think you are going to do GIDLee
  15. Didn't seem like a great AB by Soriano
  16. I'm sick of you always lowering your expectations about this team. Let's score 14.
  17. Cubs agreed to move them to 1:20 to address neighborhood traffic concerns. I think they might have gotten extra night games in exchange, too. I like this 2:20 start! It's about time the world accepted EST. Chicago should be in EST. I like it getting dark at 9:45 in the summer
  18. If players like Adam Dunn are 3 true outcomes (HR, K, BB), is Mike Jacobs 2 true outcomes?
  19. There was another Luis Gonzalez at one point. Not sure if he still plays.
  20. Gonzo murders Dempster lifetime. I'm assuming that's why he's hitting 2nd.
  21. Hasn't been that way for 2 years now. I forgot the exact reasoning though.
  22. Seriously, I think we take this for granted. How many botched platoons did Dusty operate? Dusty was the guy who would let Trinidad Hubbard bat 3rd just because he was replacing Sammy Sosa in the lineup.
  23. I think he's maturing as a pitcher. He said it himself this year that he was becoming a pitcher as opposed to a thrower. He's also getting a lot of effectiveness out of his sinker, something he hasn't done since 2003-2004
  24. My guess is Angelo told the agent to tell Devin, "Remember when Urlacher showed up to OTA and then they signed him?" They probably refused to sign him while he was holding out, and told him, show up, and then we'll sign. That could be true. At any rate, I'm listening to alot of silly hand-wringing on the radio this morning about how this is "typical Bears" and they should have "given Hester his money long ago." Honestly, do most Bear fans feel this way? Looking at the picture, I really don't see how the Bears have botched their negotiations this offseason. I think they've actually done a pretty good job. Hester's a player under contract -- he has asked for more money. The Bears have agreed to negotiate a new contract. What else can reasonably be expected here? Exactly....the Bears might have tense negotiations with players, but how many players have left the team or went another direction because of the Bears tough negotiations. Alex Brown, Vasher, Urlacher, Briggs, Hester, even Gould all went public with their negotiations, and all of them are still here. Briggs is the prime example. He said he would never play another down for the Bears, finally accepted the Franchise Player tag with the goal of unrestricted FA next year, and he ended up coming back to the team for less than we all thought.
