  1. Delayed response. Sounds like the kinda stuff Jim Hendry used to say about Prior and Wood back in the day.
  2. Edmonds has looked pretty bad the last week or so.
  3. Lee hasn't Leebombed one in weeks! Now would be perfect timing but I don't see it. Lee's HR totals by month: April 8 May 5 June 2 July 0 He's due for a streak though. Too good not to.
  4. Honestly, why even pitch him before the break? Have Zambrano, Lilly, Marquis, Marshall and Dempster finish off the homestand, enjoy a 4 day All Star break, and have him pitch the second game, after Zambrano post ASB. This gives his arm a 12 day rest in between game action, which is almost like a 15 day DL stint. We, unlike the Brewers, are not in a position of having to make games up in the standings at this point. I'm not saying we've come anywhere close to locking up a playoff spot or anything, but we should use this lead to our advantage and keep our new gun fresh before October.
  5. Don't like any of them.
  6. As I said in the Harden thread in Transactions: I've got a hardon for Harden! My fantasy team littered with Cubs fans have already used those 2 names
  7. He doesn't even know his own power!
  8. I heard that this trade was actually made in February but they didn't announce it because they didn't want to overshadow baseball's first half of the season
  9. I won't even post a source.... ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. Was it BigBird or Peace that let you in on that? Nah, bigbird or peace would have been wrong. :P Major props to you my good friend :)
  10. When was the last time the Cubs swept the Reds? I bet it has been awhile. Reds lineup: Hairston SS Bruce CF Griffey RF Phillips 2B Dunn LF Keppinger 3B Votto 1B Bako C Harang P May 28-30th, 2001....we beat them 6 times in an 8 game span (6-0) The July 2004 thing was a 2 game series. So yeah, it's be a long time. This Cubs team is really good, but there have been a lot worse Reds teams (umm, last years) that managed not to be swept by the Cubs. Has nothing to do with this years team or this particular series. I like the pitching matchups this series, and the fact that we are 33-10 at home this year means we should win 2/3 if not sweet.

  12. Beasley had 9 points 7 rebounds today...... on 1-13 shooting and 7 fouls.
  14. Can we take the White Sox out of this and have a "Next Chicago Championship that matters" thread?
  15. No. This is the Jim Edmonds signing on crack. Looking at it without my Favre hatred, my answer would probably be yes. What would we have to lose. Unless someone in the Bears org thinks Grossman or Orton have a solid chance at being a franchise QB, it would be a good one year pickup, although I have no idea who he throws to.
  16. Isn't CC pretty nimble for a fatty? Kinda like Z? (although I realize Z isn't as fat as CC)
  17. Salary aside, Jeter and its not even close With Salary considered, if I'm a big market team Jeter. If I'm a small or medium market team Theriot. But only because Theriot is expendable and you can probably find Jeter's production (in 2008) for a much better price and dump off Theriot.
  18. You guys really haven't sold this game out yet? If the Cubs got CC in July the game would have been sold out..........in February ;)
  19. I enjoyed reading the comments on this blog to find out what A's fans think Harden should command. Of course every teams fans overvalue their players, but its fun to read. The first comment suggested the Cubs should trade Vitters, Murton and Samardjia...............for Blanton http://www.athleticsnation.com/2008/7/7/566267/cubs-want-some-harden
  20. It does but how many 1-2 starters are available.... Harden, maybe Hudson, Bedard, and Burnett if you consider him one.
  21. When you're relying on Ben Sheets to stay healthy, you're guaranteed nothing.
