  1. Guys guys guys. I am the king of letting things like this make my blood boil. I have spent many of nights this summer in rage that some Cardinals team who on paper looks terrible will not go away and is trying to ruin the Cubs dream season. I have let this stuff get to me. But this afternoon, I had an realization. Just ACCEPT that the Cardinals and Brewers are good...maybe as good as our Cubs. Accept that this will be a battle to the end. Accept and enjoy. Pennant races are what baseball is all about. We should be lucky that we have such excitement in our division. These teams keep us on our toes. If the Brewers weren't on our heels, do we turn that Harden trade? Maybe yes, maybe no...maybe not as soon as we did. Just try to accept that our competitors are good enough to win any given day. Accept that the WC is coming out of the Central, and that one of the teams is not going to make the playoffs. It will make the regular season much more exciting and enjoyable, and if we make the playoffs, it will make us feel that much more satisfaction. So don't spend your nights wondering why a team with Cesar Izturis, Aaron Miles, Todd Wellemeyer as key parts is keeping up with the Cubs. Accept that they are good and enjoy what looks to be an exciting race.
  2. One good thing about the starters lately is that they have been going much deeping into ballgames, leaving the bullpen mostly rested.
  3. I still can't understand how we had so many all-stars and that guy was not one of them. He's now tied for 4th in the NL in average with Holliday. And 6th in OBP. You gotta give the Cubs credit where it's due. Many Cubs fans were outraged that the Cubs were not addressing their SS issue in the offseason. So far he's looked really good this year. Still has horrible range at SS and tends to make dumb decisions from time to time, but overall he's been more than fine.

  5. The Cardinals lose? That's unpossible. Give it time. This is San Diego. Yeah seriously...at this point of the game yesterday the Padres had a 5-0 lead
  6. That's pretty harsh. He's got a .500 SLG this year..
  7. Because it was a shitty call and the ump knew it. Generally umps are more inclined to allow that sort of thing when they know they screw up. I knew that I would when I was umpiring. I guess so....yelling some words while you walk back to the dugout or throwing your hands in the air is one thing. But hopping up and down like a 2 year old throwing a temper tantrum seems quite a bit excessive.
  8. That strike 3 was so bad, when I saw the pitch land in Soto's glove, I turned my head away from the TV towards my computer screen assuming that he walked and it was 3-1. Then I heard yell "GOT HIM!!" and jerked my head back towards the TV.
  9. How do you not get ejected for that display of emotion?
  10. We havent gotten a single break this series..... UNTIL NOW
  11. It might have been your initial reaction before seeing the replay, so I'm sorry if it was. But I didn't see anything wrong with what Theriot did there. He threw it to the only base he possibly had a play at, and where his teammate was pointing. Yeah initial reaction. And I guess Pence is quick so its doubtful we get the out at first
  12. He might have gotten the out at first. It's debatable if he would have, but what I do know is he had no chance at 2nd
  13. Don't forget Backe is 10-30 this year at the plate. He is not an easy out at the bottom of the lineup.
  14. Hah, the Padres broadcasters are touting Edgar Gonzalez for ROY, and are saying that he would get mod pub for the award if he was playing in Chicago like Soto or Fukudome.
  15. 2 pitches in that AB could have been easily called balls but were called strikes. If I was Fukudome I would want to learn some English swear words and tell the ump off.
  16. I swear to God, Fukudome hasn't gotten a single close call this series. It's ridiculous how big the strike zone is for him.
  17. I am dumbfounded at how Theriot got so good at hitting a baseball.
