Didn't see this mentioned anywhere but the Padres are up 1-0 which means that the Cardinals will come from behind to win again instead of just winning from the start of the game.
I'm going to go with the consensus pick Vikings Packers Bears Lions Not sure if the Packers grab a WC spot yet...but I'm leaning towards no. That's my irrational Packer hate speaking though probably. Name 5 teams in the NFC that are better than the Packers. You can't do it. name five teams that people thought would be worse than packers going into last year. You can't do it. Get my point? Exactly. Honestly as I mentioned before, I am letting my irrational hate of the Packers change my opinion. But to be honest, no one can really predict how the Packers do this year. They have a solid defense, but so did the Bears last year and even this year. If you would have told me the Bears would have finished under .500 last year I would have laughed in your face. The key is, they are replacing a stellar QB with an unproven one. Not many people can argue that the QB position is the most important in football, heck maybe even sports. As a Bears fan, I know how hard it is to find a good QB. So what if Rogers looked good for 3 quarters against Dallas last year. Rex Grossman owned the NFL for all of September of 06 and look where that got him.
First of all the difference between the Vikings running game and the Bears is like the difference between the 1998 Yankees and the 2003 Tigers. Second of all, at best the Bears have an equal receiving corps than the vikings, and thats a huge huge stretch in my mind. Who do the Bears have? An aging Booker? Brandon Lloyd? These are retreads that may not even be on an NFL team if the Bears didn't sign them. Maybe Bradley will have a Berrian like impact but thats a huge maybe. The Vikings are in a different world than the Bears right now. The Bears will win 7 games this year, most likely 6 of those wins squarely because of the defense.
I don't think it's the losses that bother us per say (not that there's any such thing as a good loss), but rather the fashion in which they're losing, the team/pitchers they're losing to and the worrisome performances that are contributing to the losses, performances that could be precursors to extended problems. Exactly. I know the Cubs are better then the Brewers/Cards, but the fact that they are playing like the Padres is what concerns. 17+ innings, they've score 2 runs on such "legendary" pitcher like Moehler and Rodriguez. That is concerning to me. Concerning yes but every team has stretches like this. This crap would matter less if we didn't have the 3 best records in the NL in this division. If we were in the East or West with at least a 7 game cushion we'd be brushing this off.
What do past teams (with completely different players) have to do with this team? You must be young. What kind of answer was that? What do past teams have to do with this team? Do you believe in curses? Santa Claus? Monsters? I believe in added pressure that comes with hearing about curses and 100 years every day of the season. And if you think it doesn't, you are extremely naive. I hope they prove me wrong but 69, 77, 84, 03 and 04 tell me differently. No, no its the day games at Wrigley. Too hard to get adjusted to these night games on the road.
It does have that bad feeling to it. I guess I just don't get why we are so bad on the road this year. We aren't that much different of a team this year....last year we finished what 40-41 on the road?
