  1. The Phillies are in a heated playoff race, and playing the team with the best record in baseball at their home where they are almost unbeatable and they just got a key late inning strike out against a perrenial slugging All Star who represented the go ahead run. Give the showboating complaints a break.
  2. Didn't he fail with runners on third twice yesterday, once today and now with a runner on second in a key situation today? I guess he did get the GW HR on Friday at least.
  3. Fontenot probably. I'd rather Fontenot PH
  4. Kosuke has come up with RISP in 3 of his 4 ABs. Can you guess which AB he singled?
  5. LOL, potentially overworking your pitcher because of a "possible no hitter" that would rely on a scorer changing his decision.
  6. Wow...I am glad that this isn't the playoffs. We've sucked offensively this whole series....actually the last 5 games, save a great 8th inning on Thursday.
  7. Wow this pitcher went 3-0 on Reed and then threw 7 straight strikes past the Cubs hitters.
  8. I don't think he should win the Cy, but he's been easily the best pitcher in the NL during the time he's been in the NL I wouldn't say easily. Harden's right there with him in terms of ERA and WHIP (was actually leading coming into today) but CC obviously throws more innings. Yeah about 25 more innings over pretty much the same time period
  9. Again thats not the point. What's the benefit of having him come into the 9th inning with 111 pitches thrown and a 7 run lead? To chase a silly 1 hitter? That's stupid. Whether you want to admit it or not, every pitcher that gets overworked will suffer. Every pitcher has different points where they get overworked, but they all do. There no need to find that point with a 7 run lead.
  10. I don't think he should win the Cy, but he's been easily the best pitcher in the NL during the time he's been in the NL
  11. I don't think anyone has a shot considering we have hit one XBH in the last 3 games.
  12. Soriano isn't slumping per say but he's not nearly at his best right now: Last 21 games: .261 .343 .420 .763
  13. That was not a strike earlier in the game.
  14. I'm pretty sure its a matter of keeping him in games where the Brewers are up by 7+ runs. Sure he might be able to handle the workload (and thats not proven), but why would you overwork him for no good reason?
  15. Probably not. 4.5 after today. I'm dismayed. After today, if the Cubs go 12-13 to end the season, the Brewers will need to go 17-9 to tie us, 18-8 to win the Central. If the Cubs go 15-10 to finish the season, it changes to 20-6 and 21-5 stop with the optimism, it's scary from you. ;) Personally, I think we will go 14-11 or 13-12 to finish the season. The teams are a lot tougher, and with an 11 game lead for the WC there are already signs that the Cubs are going to take their foot off the pedal for a bit in order to make sure we are ready for October. It would really really suck to lose HFA and the division, but its not a bad consolation to play either Philly or NY in the first round. Despite what Philly is doing to us this weekend, I'd rather face them without HFA than Arizona with HFA. I know that sounds weird and I'm probably wrong, but that's how I feel.
  16. Maintaining a 5 game lead over the last month when both teams had easy schedule isn't bad. We did take 27 or so games off the schedule.

  18. This reminds me of the Marlins series at Wrigley when we just couldn't get anything going.
  19. Please let me know when the Cubs offense decides to show up for the series. Cubs have scored 13 runs this series, and 7 in the last 3 games.
  20. How many freaking called thirds are we going to take?!?!
  21. yeah something tells me that teams aren't going to be falling all over themselves to trade for a RF who's below average offensively and is due $38m over the next 3 years. that is one ugly contract, fo' sho'. Yeah, I didn't think it was actually going to happen. Will Kosuke end up beating Jeromy Burnitz' 2005 OPS+ of 94? He's currently at 96. the cubs wanted an upgrade from matt murton so they ended up signing... matt murton. It sure would've been easier if he was left-handed. Yeah our AAA RF would be locked up.
