  1. I think the Cubs are allergic to 90 wins In 98, they won their 89th game with 2 to play and lost their last 2. They did win the WC game to get to 90 games but we all know that doesn't count In 04 they won their 87th game with 9 to play and finished the season 2-7 Now winning their 85th game with 27 to go they have started out 0-5
  2. I realize the Cubs position...and I realize that you have to be really delicate to yell at a team 30 games over .500, but with all the fundamental lapses the last few games, Lou needs to speak to the team in some fashion. We've gone through 135 games this year without seeing the things that we've seen several times over the past few days. They look slightly shellshocked out there.
  3. The Natspos might have saved our season! 2/3 from the Phillies right? If the Phillies sweep like they should, we are 7 games up on the WC and starting to get a little nervous.
  4. At least we get Lee's AB out of the way before the 9th
  5. Fly balls when the wind is blowing in. Ground balls when the wind is blowing out. Yep, these are the Cubs I remember.
  6. Pitching probables this weekend Lilly vs. Arroyo (3-0 1.57 ERA last 3 starts) Marquis vs. Cueto (1-1 1.20 last 3 starts) Marshall vs. Harang (1-2 2.84 ERA last 3 starts)
  7. For a playoff spot? Just the Phillies
  8. In an increasingly important game, the Nats have runners on first and third one out tied 5-5 with Philly. C'mon Nats, ensure we aren't 8 up! Edit: 6-5 Nats!
  9. Nice 9 outs left and you bunt to the pitcher. Good idea.
  10. The 08 Cubs would start a nice long rally right now. Let's see it happen!
  11. at least AP photographers won't be able to take pictures of you distraught... (that was you wasn't it?) It was :(
  12. I got it! The Cubs wanted us to remember how it felt like to be a fan the other 99 years of our title drought before making their historic championship run. This way we don't take it for granted. It sure feels like the 06 or 05 Cubs the last few days.
  13. Of course Theriot didn't get a hit. There was a runner in scoring position!
  14. Hunter Pence is my least favorite baseball player. I want to punch him in the nose.
  15. This is the closest I've ever come to swearing in my life HOLY HELL DOES THAT SUCK. There goes my dream of going to postseason games this year. Holy freaking hell does that freaking suck. This is worse news than the Z and Harden injuries
  16. This is hypothetical, and I realize I'm jumping the gun. But this goes with my playoffs crapshoot theory. If our rotation was Dempster, Lilly, Marshall and Marquis and we got really hot offensively is it possible we could still win it?
  17. Duh...have a nice year off Z.
  18. I'm actually not all that concerned about this at all. They didn't even say he was having an MRI or X-Rays.
  19. The offense did enough, but it doesn't mean you can pick on them for grounding into 4 double plays, 2 with the bases loaded. Most days, we would hardly notice because we'd have won the game, but some days the pitching isn't going to be there.
  20. Never heard of it
  21. How does our playoff magic number go down with the Brewers loss? I thought Phillie would have to lose because they are in Wild Card second place. 14 for the WC 19 for the division if the Phillies and Brewers lose respectively.
  22. It's because of that stuff you posted. Plus, the bad seats at Wrigley are really bad. Standing room only as well. They are only sold day of game and night games and weekday afternoon games not in the summer are usually not sold out. By the way, does all of MLB still go by tickets sold? I remember at one point, they actually did turnstile attendance. How do they do it now? The NL used to do turnstile attendance but since the league offices merged in the 90's MLB required all teams to go by tickets sold.
