Sure but we're towards the end of Fields, they are just starting with Love. He's shown flashes too...i dont think he's any good but flashes keep fans hoping and dreaming for longer than they should.

It would have been considered official by the rule book. I still wonder if Manfred would have intervened in that situation, but the Marlins would have less of an argument in this circumstance. I didn’t watch the 9th but I read that rain was affecting the Mets pitchers. Sucks they didn’t just call it after 8 but that’s just the luck the Cubs have had this month

And it’s officially been suspended. At the very least the Cubs should fight to make the Marlins have to come back to NY on Monday

This is wild, the Mets and Marlins are arguing on the field about whether to resume play. One of the managers is screaming and pointing at the groundscrew while the Mets PA rep Nimmo is out there presumably arguing its unsafe to play on the lake that used to be Citi Field

Technically the Marlins are still batting with 2 on and 2 outs so they could hypothetically add on here. The Mets have done an ok job of being spoilers but I question their will at this point for a meaningless game after waiting for 3+ hours to resume. apparently tarp is coming off the field even though it’s still steadily raining and there are giant puddles around the field

Yeah I saw that....there are still a ton of people throwing up screen shots of the 2023 Rule Book and there is no specific rule in there that says the game should be suspended, but as we saw in the 08 World Series, the commish has the power to override for the good of the game which is exactly what would happen

Damn this rain delay is wild. Field is in terrible shape apparently and its going to rain heavily until Saturday. No one seems to know for sure what the rule is...I believe people are under the impression that the score should revert to Mets 1 Marlins 0, but that the commish has the power to override that and force them to suspend the game and make it up monday if necessary.

lol Cubs fans and their hope....people on Twitter are now speculating what would happen if they had to call the rest of the Marlins-Mets game. Technically I believe the rule is they revert to the last completed inning and the Mets win, but there is 0.00% chance that they call the game. ...but what if they have to resume at 4am, and then they don't get to Pittsburgh until 9am and they're so tired they get swept and then the Cubs somehow win 3 games

Imagine what we could have gotten for Bellinger and Stroman! im kidding but at the same time given how much of a gut punch this is, it makes me go back and wish we sold. The decision was still obviously the right one though. We had a 4.5 game lead on September 7th.

Yeah Marlins magic number will be 2. The Cubs can guarantee survival until the weekend by winning tomorrow but I’m pretty sure their will is broken. I bet they win the last game of the season with Canario, PCA, etc in the lineup but that’s it

According to this hastily googled link this would be the 21st biggest collapse in baseball history based on playoff odds. Might be higher because I think BP had them over 95% http://www.coolstandings.com/collapses.asp?i=1 edit: I guess it’s only up to 2011. But at least gives you an idea for where they fit historically
