  1. That's what makes the upcoming decision so monumental. If you keep Fields you are settling for a lower ceiling most likely (not saying you can't win with an adequate QB but the margin for error on the rest of the roster is much lower) and you are stuck with him moving forward as I don't expect them to be picking at the top of the draft any time soon. But if you bail on Fields, you are taking a gigantic risk in an attempt to get a higher ceiling. If the QB you pick is a bust or you don't develop him properly, you've just wasted the next 3 years...best case you get a 2018 type season with Trubisky. But obviously if you hit, the entire trajectory of our pathetic franchise changes.
  2. I still have scar tissue from the last time Fields started a regular season game in Cleveland
  3. So you’re saying there’s a chance?
  4. Disappointed to find out that due to tiebreakers and teams in the hunt playing each other, despite the Bears potentially being 1 game out of a playoff spot after tomorrow the earliest they can claim ownership of a playoff spot is after Week 17 (without ties being involved). The tiebreakers wont be our friend with the Bears already losing the tiebreakers to Tampa Bay and New Orleans, tied vs. Minnesota, trailing 0-1 to GB. We can win the tiebreaker against Atlanta, and can probably still win it with GB and Minnesota (too lazy to look that deeply into the 2nd and 3rd level tiebreakers). Basically, I think the Bears need to win out to have a shot at the playoffs. Finishing 8-9 will probably pull them even with one of the teams they lost the tiebreaker to. The biggest game will be next week at Cleveland. If they can get that they have a decent shot of getting to the GB game at 8-8 and perhaps a win and in scenario.
  5. Conflicting rumors are coming in suggesting now it wasn’t a physical altercation but a very heated verbal one related to his son Jace being late for his workout session and the s&c coach confronting him which caused Juwan to lose it. Might have jumped the gun on the assault thing but wouldn’t be surprised if this ends Howard’s tenure. We’ll see
  6. Haha I beat you by seconds Edit: in all seriousness, she’s a model that travels places for modeling so it doesn’t necessarily mean she’s there with Belli on a FA visit. But also Bellinger is obviously going to take FA visits so not that big of a deal unless he signs a contract. But as a Boras client I doubt he will unless they absolutely blow them away with an offer
  7. This is a fairly weak rumor but apparently Bellinger’s girlfriend posted an Instagram from Toronto 😱
  8. I gave him too many chances. I do think he is a good person in many ways, but obviously he has a fatal flaw that is going to be his downfall. I initially wanted him fired after the Wisconsin incident but went along with the suspension and opportunity to have another chance. But even though this might be the first documented assault since then, he has gotten in shouting matches several times the last couple of years and a couple of weeks ago got ejected from a game in the Bahamas that he wasn't even technically coaching (was still recovering from his heart surgery)
  9. Well the Michigan basketball season has been boring thus far but apparently a bunch of insiders are alluding to a rumor that Juwan Howard assaulted his strength and conditioning coach and is going to be fired. So that’s fun
  10. I just don't think he's ever going to do that. He's never going to win a FA battle for the most elite talent where other big market teams are involved. He's probably not going to win a battle to trade for an elite talent due to the amount of prospect capital he'd have to give up (unless the player involved came with years of control). He's going to have a plan going in and a backup plan in case his plan A guys get out of the range he's comfortable with. I do think he'd be willing to overpay in the right situations, but not outlandishly. And while it's frustrating, it's not the end of the world if we are living in the Dansby/Bellinger type of range of FAs. But his system has to produce a few stars otherwise we'll have a lot of 78-85 win seasons IMO.
  11. Are they really that good? The KC win was big but we've already seen that KC isn't as daunting as they've been. Their other wins are against 6-7 Falcons 6-6 Packers 1-12 Panthers 6-7 Bucs 5-8 Raiders 5-8 Chargers 5-8 Bears 6-7 Saints You have to be some degree of good to get to 9-4 I suppose but that's a pretty weak slate and their point differential for the season is +26. But the NFC North all had really easy schedules this year. With a tougher schedule they are probably closer to 7-6 or 6-7 I think.
  12. I knew it! Exactly what I said at the time, they had no intention of snapping it until they jumped. Hilarious.
  13. The tweet does say all big market teams are in it. But yeah I don't feel a ton of confidence in outbidding every big market team.
  14. Yeah I've definitely had some skepticism of Poles and disagreed with things he's done but I never really thought he should be axed after this season. I know not all agree, I just hate the idea of switching FO's every 2 seasons. His plan needs to turn around quickly though, like next year. You could probably also sell me on no having confidence in him picking the right QB moving forward given what hes done to develop Fields.
  15. Interesting as I believe it was already reported that they met in Japan recently.
  16. Just to annoy everyone I’ll mention again that if the Bears didn’t suffer 2 very improbable losses to the Lions and Broncos, they’d be 7-6 and in a playoff spot
  17. Yeah and costs me 2 fantasy points. Those bastards
  18. So for the Bears to not get the 1st pick, the Panthers would have to go at least 2-2, with one of the 3 win teams losing out plus they’d have to lose the tiebreaker
  19. Ok we might actually win
  20. Soooo many dropped INTs
  21. Literally every Bears fan at Soldier Fields knows that we’re in trouble
  22. At least this time if they get 2 quick scores the best they can do is tie it
  23. Fields is cooking now
  24. Not sure why you run Fields keepers up 12 in the 4th quarter in FG range
