  1. I don't think we can conceptualize what our writers would say because our city wasn't nearly destroyed by a weather event.
  2. The Astrosdaily.com posters are ripping the Cubs as classless for the same thing. Are we supposed to cheer for the Astros, dropping our lifelong allegiances to the Cubs because they had to leave their families and come to Milwaukee? We understand they went through a hard time. I really feel for them. If it were up to me and most Cubs fans, we would have played the games on schedule in MMP. But they didn't. If Cubs fans are given the opportunity to get 2 extra "home" games during the stretch run of one of the best seasons in several generations, why should we not be enthusiastic? Booing the Astros is not me saying "screw you Houston and that little storm you had", its me being a Cub fan. I do think they should at least acknowledged the hurricane at Miller Park and maybe have made places where you could make donations for the relief efforts, but then again these 2 games were put together so quickly, its hard to fault them.
  3. Good stuff. I really wish this year turned out better for Kosuke. I still hold out hope that he will be a better player next year, based on the fact that Matsui had similar struggles his first season. I think he is a talented player who can be successful in the majors. He has shown the necessary skills, he just needs to make the adjustments and get his confidence back.
  4. Do they have the resources to go after FA's? I figured if they hired Dusty as manager they would be proactive in trying to go out and get some veteran talent to mix with the youngsters.
  5. I can see Cameron/Soriano parallels haha. Good thing Sveum is at least keeping the Bill Hall platoon alive.
  6. Did you also realize that with 14 games remaining, the Cubs have scored 790 runs, which would be their most in a full season since 1998 (831 runs) Before 1998, the last time the Cubs scored more than 790 runs was 1970! They are on pace to finish the season with 865 runs, which would be their most runs in a season since 1930! (Where we scored 998 runs in 154 games in a completely different era)
  7. I have a feeling that this is the year.
  8. This article was posted yesterday: http://www.cpnonline.com/cpn/content_display/regions/midwest/chicago/e3iebfd8fe8494c12b23ccf4f601f8d8991 That certainly doesn't make it seem like any deal is imminent. I don't see any reason for the Cubs to abandon their process and select a winner while the season is going on.
  9. The rumor is that it's the Ricketts guy. This was already posted in the thread about the blog posting hinting that Cuban was out. Supposedly, Stone wanted to be part of an ownership group and he signed the TV deal with the Sox when he found out he wouldn't be. I guess we'll see. He wanted to be apart of Ricketts group? So was he forced out of a stake or Ricketts group wasn't selected?
  10. Cubs win this 11-3. CC pitches 6.1 IP giving up 6 H and 3 ER. Cubs break it wide open on the Brewers bullpen. Cubs bats are due for a 10+ run game, why not tonight?
  11. I was imagining the sale taking longer. But then again, if they find their guy they find their guy I guess. Will be interesting to follow this story.
  12. I do wish we were playing the Brewers about a week ago. Their hitters are due to break out of their slump in a big way. Hopefully it can wait 3 games.
  13. That stat doesn't amaze me because A) we are barely in a playoff chase. We were 6.5 and 7.5 up going into that game with 16 to play and B) How do you defin "playoff chase"?
  14. Yeah...Not only would Santana/Perez/Pelfrey not be a better front 3 than Harden/Dempster/Zambrano, but that's likely the worst front 3 of any team that will make the playoffs. Maybe, but its not a huge dropoff from Hamels/Myers/Moyer
  15. plus the last out in the 8th against the cardinals Kerry Wood didn't have a hitless 9th vs. St. Louis, he gave up 2 hits that inning. I believe the last 2 hitters were outs though.
  16. Obviously the Cubs are going to win the division no matter what, but this is the same mentality that I heard before Game 5 of the NLCS in 2003. People debated the Cubs losing Game 5 so they could win at home. Sorry that you might not be able to see them clinch in person, but you should be cheering for the Cubs to win every game until it doesn't matter anymore.
  17. Yeah, Geo is the only regular I'd start resting. Have him catch every other game until we clinch and then give him 2 days off before playing him a bit before the season is over so he's not rusty.
  18. I'm going to kill you if Dempster walks the first 3 hitters and then gives up a homer.
  19. I see your connection that you made, but come on. The Central division has been won by an 82 win team and an 85 win team the last 2 years. Even a mediocre season with a few breaks could have gotten the Reds into the playoffs the last few years. That means that unless the Brewers get their heads out of their butts and win 7 of their remaining 12 games, there will be a grand total of one 90 win team over the course of the last 3 seasons in the Central.
  20. We'll take 2/3 from Milwaukee making our magic number 2 We'll win Friday, but the Brewers will as well. Then we'll win Saturday for a wild celebration.
  21. Oh geez, we'll be throwing 15 hitters by the playoffs. Not good.
  22. Crap, according to BCB, its only scheduled for local WGN. Sorry guys...didn't mean to get your hopes up :( http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2008/9/16/615436/wgn-replay-of-carlos-zambr
  23. Get your DVR ready Cubs fans, WGN has decided to replay Sunday's no hitter in its entirety on Friday night (9/19) at 10pm. I have no idea if it will be just local WGN or national WGN, but I would assume national WGN.
  24. That can't be good
