  1. Maddux had a 3.34 playoff ERA when he was routinely having seasons where his ERA was in the 2's. I'm not saying a 3.34 ERA is necessarily bad against improved playoff competition, but it doesn't scream of someone who "steps up when it matters". Plus he's like 45 now and not nearly the pitcher he was way back when. If the Cubs face Maddux, even in LA, we will rip him apart.
  2. Ryan Theriot should have some success then, no?
  3. BTW, that play call to run a reverse on 3rd and 4 (technically 3rd and 4) was dumbfounding.
  4. Yeah, this Bears team looks awfully similar to the 2001 Bears. We would have been more like the 2001 Bears had we finished off those 2 losses and been 4-0
  5. If we get a first here, its over imo
  6. How could you not go for it lol. Worst case scenario, you don't get it and the other team is backed up to the one inch line
  7. Is the Bears defense not conditioned enough? Or does it take an opposing team 3 teams to make adjustments to it? This will be 3 weeks in a row the opposing team just gets whatever they want in the second half against them
  8. Is it possible to lead almost the entire game and have no confidence that they will actually come out on top in the end?
  9. Greg Maddux has a mediocre track record in the playoffs. And that includes when he was good. I agree with the rest of your points though. The Dodgers have 3 number 2 starters on their team that can easily shut us down. But so do we... I think the Dodgers were a bad matchup for us in the first round. The only team I wanted to face least was Philly.
  10. I was extremely nervous in 2003 because I knew we had a good shot of it with our pitching. Then Kerry Wood hit a 2 run double and the Cubs won game 1 and I calmed down a crapload. I wasn't that nervous in 2007 because we only won 85 games and I felt like we were playing with house money
  11. Kyle Orton absolutely sucks in the 2nd half of games.
  12. Hopefully it will convince the Cubs to not try to hit HRs against Derrek Lowe's awesome sinker.
  13. Well lets see...CC won't be able to go until Game 2 at the earliest (once again on 3 days rest), Sheets is probably not going to be pitching, Gallardo can go 5 innings tops, Parra who knows. Phillies in 3
  14. Do wish the offense finished the season on a higher note but oh well. I am really scared about the Dodgers. My early thoughts are Cubs in 5.
  15. I'd still rather see him come in for a big situation than Howry. Wuertz might not throw strikes, but Howry gives up hard hit balls.
  16. Gah, a 4 pitch walk? That's guaranteed to not make you make the playoff roster.
  17. If Wuertz gets out of this without giving up a run, he deserves to be on the playoff roster.
  18. Bears fans, Moose has 8 catches for 147 yards and a TD for the Panthers today. Ron Turner should be fired immediately upon seeing that.
  19. Just think....a week from today we will.. A) Be talking about our upcoming NLCS opponent B) Watching Game 4 of a tense NLDS series C) Crying about another baseball season being over
