  1. Up 10, Falcons ball, 8:43 left. Getting interesting
  2. what a horsefeathers stupid penalty for Jones. wtf are you doing?
  3. Giants driving for the lead against the Rams. Bears playoff odds are still alive!
  4. holy horsefeathers fields. even for him thats incredible.
  5. Number 1 pick update: Jags up 16-0 over Panthers (need Jags win to clinch number 1) Playoffs update: Rams up 20-10 over Giants (need Giants win to stay alive)
  6. Ohhh so fields just needs to ask for the penalty
  7. Collapse can begin
  8. Right...Koo was short from 50 on this side of the field earlier.
  9. Eberflus asking the Bears to blow it now so they can’t add the 95% blown games list
  10. Defense isn’t getting the job done today
  11. Rocking a perfect QB Rating right now
  12. In playoff updates, the only game that matters in games on on right now is LAR/NYG. NYG need to win but the Rams are winning 7-0
  13. We’ve reached the point I’ve reached multiple times this year where I think “well maybe Fields is the guy”. This usually leads to an underwhelming rest of game and ending the game still unclear about anything regarding Fields
  14. Ridiculous that they would decide this before the season is even over still plenty of time to blow a couple more games with over 90% win probability this year.
  15. Just use the Insider’s Forum *checks the Insider list* Disregard
  16. ahh crap i didnt realize they were already baked into the SOS. OK, well at the very least Caronlina, Washington and NE are all very close in SOS so there are a lot of variables that can easily shift things in one direction or the other. I do worry about Carolina playing a free falling Jacksonville team without lawrence and then TB who may be playing a meaningless game while sitting starters because they've already cliniched the division. But I'll still lean on the improbability of all 6 things going against the Bears.
  17. Obviously there are other variables that affect SOS (like how the teams you already played do), but the Panthers have 8-7 Jacksonville and 8-7 TB left. They would both finish either 9-8 or 8-9 (because they'd lose to the Panthers in this scenario). Comparitively Washington has SF and Dallas left, and would be giving them each an additional win (to tie the Panthers). I don't see a pathway for Washington to leap Carolina unless some really wild stuff happens with the teams they've already played. New England is a bigger concern as they play Buffalo and the Jets. But the Jets could actually lose to NE (they already have once). I know what you are saying about just wanting to clinch it and remove any lingering doubt but it would take a crazy scenario like: -Carolina beats 2 straight +.500 teams fighting for playoff spots. -Arizona losing their last 2 games (if tied the Panthers will win the tiebreaker so they have to lose out) -New England losing their last 2 games and clinching SOS tiebreaker It's definitely possible but all 6 of those games have to go against the Panthers (meaning Bears) for them to slip out of the top 2, and even then Carolina might crawl ahead of NE in SOS. Feel free to quote me and laugh (and cry) when the improbable happens because, Bears
  18. I read somewhere this week that the Panthers (err Bears) currently have a 99.3% chance of picking in the top 2.
  19. It’s a tough balance between maintaining the culture of the board which you’ve repeatedly said you are trying to do, and be a welcoming place for new visitors with all different types of beliefs. I don’t know what the right answer is. There are a lot us old timers that considered the Social forum as important than the other forums during the leaner days of site traffic and changing the dynamic of that forum would not be received well. Maybe consider a post limit required to access the Social forum? Maybe 100 posts is enough for a user to get established in the community and “hooked” on the Cubs related discussions and they won’t necessarily be turned off if they access Social forum and realize that 95% of the posters share similar views that are different than their own. At that point they can choose to stick with the Cubs discussions they already enjoy or enter the fray and attempt to be a contrarian viewpoint. And then from our perspective, after 100 posts you start to recognize the newbie as a regular poster and we aren’t so quick to jump on that person for saying something disagreeable because you’ve valued their contributions to Cubs discussions. Just a thought. All that said if you go into that thread and start spouting Fox News talking points they are always going to be ripped apart. There are respectful disagreements from time to time and while it might feel like an echo chamber sometimes, there are different viewpoints expressed and defended, just not extreme ones. Also I agree with TT that the initial response to the article in question was a bit extreme. Like I said in the thread I didn’t agree with the premise of the article, I don’t really think many people are questioning whether Chicago is undesirable for MLB FAs, but I didn’t think the article was controversial at all. But because it did veer in that direction you made the right call moving it to Social
  20. Haha I saw the thread from him last night about what if the Bears stick with Fields and he doesn't work out next year, it was very entertaining.
  21. Man this season needs to end and the Bears need to make a decision with regards to a QB. This civil war amongst Bears fans on twitter in the pro-Fields and pro-Draft a QB camps is tiring.
  22. After all the Ohtani drama recently, I am very skeptical about all reporting, assuming its all to push the agenda of an agent or a team. Could definitely just be speculation as these reporters are frequently asked to come on shows and talk about the hot stove regardless of whether they've received any intel or not.
