  1. It seriously looks like when you’d create a character in NBA Live and you’d make him as tall as possible but max out his speed and athleticism
  2. Herbert and ESB were both placed on IR
  3. That sucks for the Brewers but they'll probably find a soft tossing journeyman to put up a 2.75 ERA instead.
  4. Yep, I was one of the rare people who hated the 1 game playoff concept but I prefer that over the best of 3. If they insist on keeping 6 teams, how about they steal a concept from those old multi team tiebreakers that never actually happened: Division winners advance to LDS. The Wild Card team is determined by a 2 game tournament. Using this years 3 NL wild cards, it would look like this: Day 1: Diamondbacks (WC3) at Marlins (WC2) Day 2: Phillies (WC1) at winner of day 1. if that causes logistical problems just make WC1 the home team in game 2. You play the games Monday and Tuesday, LDS starts Thursday.
  5. I think the main thing was him and KBs relationship and I don’t think it was a huge consideration, just a positive for the Cubs. Naming his dog Wrigley was just trolling I’m sure. I don’t think he was begging to go to the Cubs but I think they were one of a handful of teams he was targeting when he was getting ready for free agency. He absolutely would have came if we gave him a reasonable offer. He had to settle for a contract that gave him years over AAV basically in spring training. Cubs (and other teams) had a full offseason to swoop in and offer 8/$240 but we were broke
  6. At least there were some enjoyable games this round and of course plenty of upsets which are more fun for the casual fan. I still don’t like this WC round format and would like them to go back to 4 teams per league though I’ll accept the 5 team format
  7. I’m so happy the Braves lost. horsefeathers off Braves fans
  8. Rough looking injury report even if some of it is relatively good news. Looks like Roschon wont be able to make it back from his concussion.
  9. Yeah, they called him 'week to week' so it doesn't sound promising.
  10. Until the playoffs start
  11. Pretty sweet goal....mad I missed in real time. Boston really picked it up in the 2nd though.
  12. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that you take the bye 100 times out of 100 obviously. But I do wonder if there is some benefit to playing a very short do or die series before playing the LDS or if really is just the 'baseball is a crapshoot' component of it. Looking at other sports with byes, I believe there have been an unexpected number of upsets from teams that win the play-in round of the NCAA tournament as well but I haven't looked at the math to see if their rate of upset is higher other 11 or 12 seeds that don't have to get through the play-in. In the NFL the bye teams overwhelmingly win their games over wild card teams so nothing unexpected there.
  13. Despite winning 101 games or whatever, Baltimore still felt like an underdog. I'm sad they were eliminated. Hopefully they get 2-3 more years together before Angelos decides their arb years are getting too costly and breaks apart the team
  14. I think the NHL fixed this so the Blackhawks would win this game. Think of how good of a story it makes when a young superstar that somehow ends up in Chicago wins his first game against his childhood hero.
  15. How much of that is bedards talent and how much is lack of respect for anyone else on the ice for the Blackhawks? I just started watching.
  16. One thing I'm interested in seeing from Fields is what happens when Moore is locked down by an elite DB, how does the rest of the WR group shake out now that Claypool isn't part of the equation. Mooney is obviously number 2 (or number 3 in terms of pass catchers after Kmet) but he hasn't been too involved other than being unlucky and having both his targets be bad passes last week. Then after that you have ESB, a guy who was a healthy scratch the first 3 games, and Tyler Scott who hasnt had a target since week 3. It's clear Fields has built chemistry with DJ and trusts him but who else can he trust?
  17. yeah too bad we won't have a chance to do that this week
  18. Yeah it would be interesting to see this secondary at some semblance of full strength. It was supposed to be somewhat of a strength for the team coming into the season, though with the lack of pass rush it's not always going to look good.
  19. I want the Braves to lose so badly, this season has turned me on them and their fans. Despite that, I was pretty hyped up to see that game ending play. Really memorable cool ending.
  20. I hate how they stagger these games out. Today games at 3:07 and 7:03. Why not 5 and 8? or 6 and 8 even, who cares if there's 45 minutes of overlap? I'll likely not watch any of the 3:00 game but would if it started at 6. Maybe there's an obvious reason I'm missing.
  21. That's fine, I expect them to suck. The FO already made it clear that they would not speed up the rebuild because of Bedard. I don't agree with that strategy but for now its fine. This year will be the rare form of sucking where its actually fun.
  22. Believe its David Terrell...though him and A-Train might have been the same year. Not a ton of Wolverines on the team since then, most notable being Griese, most recent being Taco Charlton for a week or two last year. But its funny, I don't care at all about OSU players coming to the Bears. I adopted Fields as one of us as soon as he was drafted. But the though of McCarthy being the face of the Packers for the next 15 years makes me sick to my stomach lol.
  23. For those that watched the preseason how did Bedard look? I saw bits and pieces. Looked like his playmaking, face offs and defense were all looking good and the lack of goals (outside of the empty netter) was more a function of bad luck than any issues with his play.
  24. Yeah I see this revisionist history a lot. He made the Pro Bowl with San Diego! I remember hype for his FA but also a lot of teams that were scared of the shoulder being something that would limit his career.
  25. Someone suggested the Packers could draft JJ McCarthy and now I'm absolutely terrified at the thought. I was able to handle Woodson because whatever he was a DB. But a QB? This can't happen.
