  1. I would say that anytime you fall behind the Pirates in the standings, no matter the juncture of the season, "Cobs" is fair game.
  2. Badass. Then who the hell is jumping out of wheelchairs to play?
  3. So now the news in the Chicago papers is that Bradley isn't close to returning and might have to go on the DL this weekend. Since he played on Wednesday, he would have to sit until May 7th until he is eligable to return. I say just do it and good riddance. Give him more than enough time to get healthy and hope he can play a couple of weeks before his next injury. Remember when the original estimate was 3-5 days?
  4. You also have to consider that Soto was injured for 1/3 of the season so far. I'm willing to give him longer to start hitting because of that. That said, I'm not sure that Soto is going to be a consistent .868 OPS hitter. First 39 games: .328/.433/.620/1.053 Last 102 games: .269/.336/.459/.795 After a blazing hot start, he settled into an around .800 OPS hitter. Hell, but that with solid D and the rest of the Cubs lineup, I'm satisfied as all hell. I just think people here expect him to put up a .850+ OPS and personally I'm not sure if its likely. Maybe people will disagree. He did have an exceptionally good August last year in the midst of his .795 OPS in the remaining 102 games, so there is some evidence that he can do it.
  5. I heard a pop once. That damn clown that sprung up scared the crap out of me.
  6. Hmm...either this significantly hurts the Cards, or gets Meph banned....I like our odds here.
  7. I suppose. And, not to mention I was too young to really even be that much into sports when Jordan [expletive] on our dreams. The '95 and '97 WS(s) were the beginning of my attention to sports. the marlins beating the indians in 97 took me out of baseball until late 2006... not that i am a huge indians fan, but jeez...THE MARLINS!? it just didn't sit right with me Cubs fans are saying the same thing haha
  8. I love how we are counting on Bradley so little that Lou has to already create in his mind a special "Milton is hurt" lineup. Good times.
  9. They've looked lost at times, and yet, no matter how this game ends, they will finish the day on pace for 92 wins. And 4th place! Haha I gotta get off this board. When I landed and saw the cubs were losing 2-0 I was like "whatever" but then after reading 3 pages of this game thread I'm feeling pessimistic and wanting to throw my phone out the window. But for the most part I still have a level headed approach about this team. The team looked like garbage at times last year and we did alright. This team isn't on the same level as last year's team and it's beginning to look pretty obvious. Derrek Lee just sucks, Soto looks out of shape, our bullpen is a mess, we know Harden and Bradley won't stay healthy, our defense is atrocious, etc, etc, etc. And despite this we are 8-6 with Bradley soto and fontenot giving us almost nothing and the bullpen underachieving. 6 of last years regulars are the same as well as 4 starters. Do you really think that Edmonds, DeRosa and Marquis being replaced by Bradley, Fontenot and Marshall cause a 97 win team to fade into mediocrity? When 3 of your 8 position players are hitting .150 you are going to have trouble scoring runs. Do you think that they will still be hitting under .150 at the end of the year?

  11. This is why the early returns suggest that Hendry bungled the offseason. Our big signing, who is known to be off injured, is hurt and not playing. Because you gave up the best utility man in the game to get this guy, a lesser player not known to play RF with any skill is placed there. He can't make a simple catch and 2 runs score.
  12. Jeez st louis reminds me of their 2004 team when everytime you looked at their score it was like 8-0. Let's hope that this is just a hot streak to start the year. That said, I am not worried in the least about the cubs
  13. No. But I'll remember that when Bradley has a +.900 OPS a month from now. ok, remember it, i wasn't begging to get bradley in the first place no biggie, i want THE GAME to succeed, i just think we took the wrong player I definitely don't think Ibanez was the right player at all. He's 36 and a complete butcher in the field.
  14. Man, I really want one of these games in Calgary....c'mon Hawks, fight through the refs.
  15. No. But I'll remember that when Bradley has a +.900 OPS a month from now.
  16. It really is disconcerning to see Bradley start out 1-23, but the fact that he missed almost 9 full days with injury really threw off his timing most likely. It's gonna take him a couple of days to get back on track. For his sake, thank God they are going on the road after tomorrow. He really doesn't need to be amongst the home crowds while he's in this slump.
  17. Last night was pretty solid. You should be happy that the Cubs have been winning despite not playing their best baseball. You and I know the Cubs are quite capable of playing better than they have been. When your 4 and 6 hitters are a combined 4-47 with 1 extra base hit, you know you will improve quite a bit as the season progresses.
  18. Bradley walks Ramirez homers Soto homers Cubs win
  19. If the Cubs lose, it won't bother me, but I wish the Cardinals didn't look unstoppable. Even when we won 2/3 against them last weekend they easily could have had all 3 games.
  20. Please break out of your season long slumps soon Bradley and Soto.
  21. Jim Hendry picks up mediocre players. Mediocre players perform mediocre. Mediocre players leave team. Jim Hendry is applauded. Mediocre player is boo'd upon return. I guess it makes sense. But if the collective thought was "were going to boo every former Cub that fails to provide us a championship", I guess that's ok only if they make exceptions for players that obviously are special.
  22. I see a lot of Wrigley patrons have already left for the nearest watering hole.
  23. I honestly think Cotts will be DFA'd and Shark brought up tomorrow.
