Do tell. I mean, I fully expect Lou to run and hide after this season, but sooner??? It was a lot of speculation, but the discussion was that Lou is very frustrated and could possibly step down as soon as the Cubs are mathematically eliminated. He said it is pretty much a foregone conclusion that he won't be back next year. Well then...who replaces him? Will they make a splash like they have the last 3 managers, or will they go in house and hire someone like Trammel? -

It was because Lou wanted Aaron Miles to bat. Stupid on so many levels. 1) Aaron Miles is horrible 2) Gorzolanny has 2 RBIs in 3 starts for the Cubs; Miles has 3 RBIs all season 3) Even if the move did work, Lou was playing for one run (becuase with Miles SLG there was no way the runner at first would have scored), so basically he was trusting his middle relief, which has been shaky all year, to protect a 1 run lead for 4 innings against a pretty good offense. 4) Stupid Lou

Haha, I was just thinking to myself before the inning that it was nice to have a close ballgame to enjoy because I hadn't been enjoying baseball much lately. So much for that.

That's the second time in 1.5 weeks that there was a play at 3rd on a bunt and there wasn't a 3B there to cover the bag. What a stupid team.

He might acknowledge that he screwed up, but he also knows that his moves last year got him tons of praise, as did his move to pick up Baker, and his Grabow/Gorzo trade. No matter how bad his offseason moves are, he knows that he's made some good moves and some bad moves. He has made the playoffs 3 of the last 6 years, so I doubt Hendry believes he's doing something wrong with regards to his approach as a GM. He probably chalks things up to "all gms make some good moves and some bad moves." Based on his comments throughout this year, he seems to be very sure that there was no way last year's team would compete for a championship this year unless some changes were made. Although he made the wrong moves, I'm sure he still believes he needed to make changes. Basically what I'm saying is, that unless he gets fired, he won't change the way he builds next year's team. I think he's had enough success to be sure enough in what he's doing and one bad year won't change it. I don't agree with this at all, but I'm trying to think from his perspective.

That's quite a bit to expect from a man who described Samardzija's two best attributes as "stuff" and "heart". I thought he said his 3 best attributes were "stuff", "heart" and "Notre Dame"? -
I'm a little late, but if the Cubs won a World Series, I would accept what happened in 2003 to happen the next 10 years, and I could care less. Cardinals fans just don't understand and I don't expect them to. Right now even MAKING the World Series would be like winning it.

I've always seen a little Rex in him in terms of style of QBing, but in terms of talent and skillset, he's much different. But since they both have strong arms and like to throw the ball deep into coverage people will keep making that comparison. -

I would say the odds are even money that Chone Figgins finds his way onto the Cubs roster this offseason. Switch hitter with speed and versatility. Hendry would give him Soriano money to get him on the team (of course he'll fail to look at the fact that figgins ops's .887 vs. lefties and .633 vs. righties) -
Yeah but those turds are definately getting a good laugh at us over at gwrb. We'd be laughing at them over here if the tables were turned. Yeah I could care less who is reading this forum and what sort of entertainment they are getting out of it. I sure had a lot of fun at their expense the previous 2 seasons.

The Cardinals are good...but they are also so damn lucky. Unless there is a skill to make their opponents commit a ton of errors. I swear half of their runs are aided by an error. Their offense hasn't even been that good...it's mostly pitching.

I really hate them. We have gotten one season that good out of any pitcher this decade, and he basically never had a full season again, and they're getting two of them at once. I really, really hate them. The only saving grace is that at least these pitchers are supposed to be good. Joel Piniero on the other hand...
