    The Reds seem to be hitting the ball well, just in range of the Cubs fielders.

    That was tough to watch. The inning would have actually went better had Gorzo successfully put down the bunt instead of walking. Oh well...

    That's a very tough start to the season and a somewhat difficult finish.

    Why Happ over Wells? Wells has more wins and a lower ERA and WHIP. Happ has 12 more K's in 3.2 more innings, but is that enough to have him leap over Wells?

    Nope, actually hasn't given up any. He was used only as a reliever and gave up 5 ER in 3 appearances, but none in the other 6. His BABIP is around .250...a career low for him but not completely outrageous just a little low.

    LOL Dusty: Looking at a guys eyes to see if they are gassed or not....that's old school. Sososo glad Dusty not only isn't our manager anymore, but he's managing a division rival with loads of young talent into the ground. The weirdest thing is Jocketty is slowly becoming the Reds version on Andy MacPhail.

    Hes hitting a HR every 10 at bats or so, considering hes not getting consistent at bats thats pretty impressive. Or, he's hitting a HR ever 10 at bats or so, considering he's not getting consistent at bats, he hasn't had a chance to get exposed full time or have prolonged slumps. There's no way he hits a HR every 10 ABs playing everyday. Oh yeah and him playing 2B would be absolutely disasterous. The Cubs are better off letting him catch and play 3B in instructs and have a similar role he's had this year, except with actually starting him at C if Soto misses a month again or throwing him in right away at 3B when Aramis gets hurt again. I'm curious, do you think Fox is legit, or do you think he will become exposed with consistent ABs (by exposed I mean he'll have numbers that don't deserve to be in a corner OF position). Sometimes I think Jake Fox has to be another Mike Fontenot, but at the same time he has the numbers to back this up. He was destroying AAA, got a promotion and is destroying here. He probably won't be a 1.000 OPS guy or even .900, but I think he's pretty legit. The only think that scares me is his plate discipline. He does get into good counts a lot but I think he only has 6 BBs since being called up.

    Just curious to see the general thoughts of the board. With St. Louis making several big acquisitions, coinciding with the Cubs finally playing like the team we expected them to, its shaping up to be an exciting race. Also, the Cubs/Cardinals are just 2 games out of the Wild Card as well, putting a 2nd playoff spot in play. So now that the NLC looks to be a 2 team race, on August 3rd, how do you think this season will end?

    If there is a game we lose this series, this is the one. That said, I think we'll win.

    Imagine if the pen didn't blow 4 run leads in two games. He could be 10-4 right now and getting serious ROY consideration.

    ..... or, he's just plain out of gas. Well, hopefully he can get this last out and have Grabow/Guzman and Marmol finish this puppy up. Wells easily could have gone out for the 8th if that error didn't cause him to throw ~15 more pitches
