The backlash for this incident is incredible. I just can't imagine the backlash being this bad if it occured at a US sporting event. And we are a country known for overblowing things. I read an editorial article in the Telegraph that suggested that Henry should be banned from the World Cup for his handball/goal. Are you serious? Henry not only admitted the handball to the ref but also went out in public and suggested a replay would be fair. Can you imagine if Derek Jeter went out of his way to admit to an ump that Jeffery Maier touched that fly ball that was called a home run in the ALCS? And then afterward telling the media they should replay that game? And then having people suggest Jeter should be banned from the World Series for his actions? Should they have replayed Game 6 of the 85 World Series because the ump blew that call at first? It just seems weird to blame Henry for a refs mistake, and even weirder to suggest that they replay a game based on a bad call by an official. I guess I've just learned that bad calls are part of the game and you have to live with them.

I know it....being a Chicago sports fan I really don't have many opportunities to watch a team I root for completely own another.

What did they get for Gasol again? For the longest time I thought his name was Paul Gasol. Mostly salary cap relief (headlined by Kwame Brown). I think the Memphis GM even admitted there were much better offers out there in terms of talent coming back to Memphis, but all he wanted was cap relief, and the Lakers were the best match for them. They also got Pau's brother Marc Gasol, who has turned out to be a decent piece, although clearly not the talent of Pau

Decent first quarter for the Bulls, who are obviously in over their heads in talent against the Lakers. Unfortunately, the Bulls kinda fell apart the last 2 minutes of the quarter and they now trail by 6.

He should really think about what he says before he says it because his statement is a walking contradiction. And seriously, he's worried about HFA for the All Star game? Who cares. I know it "counts", but no small/mid market team is planning it's rebuilding plan around a year when their league has HFA for the All Star game so they have a .00000001% better chance of getting an extra World Series game at their stadium. With interleague play, everyone has pretty much played in every ballpark so is there really an advantage?

The ASG in Fenway was in 1999...not the 100th anniversary. And when they gave that game to Boston, it had been 38 years in between All Star games at Fenway. It was 31 years in between ASGs at Yankee Stadium when they had it last year. It will only have been 24 years in between ASGs for Wrigley. I hope they get it, but I'm not holding my breath. If Ricketts/Kenny can sell Selig on this "Wrigley 2014" project with the ASG being the centerpiece/showcase for the plan, maybe they'd have a decent shot.

I'm with those who liked Funk on the radio but can't stand him on TV. In fact, I worshipped Funk on the radio. A link to the title teams, a good radio voice imo. Strangely enough, the Swirsk (who I greatly enjoy as well) has a voice better suited for TV. They really need to get Funk and Bill back on the radio and Swirsky and King together on the tv. Anything is better than broadcasts headlined by Tom Dore or Wayne Laravee though. I don't mind Wayne doing college football, but Bulls basketball I can't stand him.

For whatever reason he seems to have taken a bit of a step back so far. He's not getting to the hoop with any consistency, he hasn't really had periods where he just takes over the offense like he would do occasionally last year. His passing has been good, but he's turning the ball over a lot. Jumper is slightly improved from last year. Defense is slightly better IMO. He isn't getting killed nearly as much as he was last year so far. For the most part he hasn't played as many minutes as he did last year likely because of the injury, but when he is in, it's obvious that frequently the offense isn't running through him. Sometimes he's just plain invisible out there.

Grrr... I feel like there is something lacking on this team, or maybe they just aren't hitting their stride. I would say getting Hossa would help, but I'm not seeing too many problems on offense.

Why shouldn't the Packers fans be happy if their team beats the Cowboys? That's a big win. They are in a much much better position than the Bears, having a better record, a more reliable QB, defense and WRs. I mean yes this could be just like their "Steelers" win in a meaningless season, but this could also be the momentum they were looking for to have a strong finish to the season. I don't know what their schedule is the rest of the year but I know that they don't have the Vikings (who we have twice) anymore, so that's gotta be positive. I hate the Packers :)

I think the 35+ pass statistic is misleading because the types of situations you are throwing 35+ times are typically times when you are behind and have abandoned the run game. There's no doubt that Cutler is a much better QB than his numbers have shown...this is sort of a worst case scenario for him with inexperienced receivers, no running game, no pass rush and a bad defense that constantly puts his team behind. The fact that before yesterday his numbers looked somewhat decent is a credit to his talent. I don't think Tom Brady would have a good season with this type of team behind him. But all that doesn't mean that he's not doing the same dumb things he's done his entire career and needs to improve as a QB. -

I'd love Logan Mankins, but I don't think the Pats will let him walk...then again Bill B likes to dump players about to get a payday and assume he'll replace them in the draft. Maybe we can take an O-lineman with every pick we have left in the draft and hope one actually works and then replace everything else in FA. I'm pretty sure the Bears are still quite a bit under the cap right? I remember people complaining about that in the offseason. Edit: Oh...the Bears are roughly $8 million under the cap right now (I think) but none of that matters once the season is over...the cap will go up, many players will be cut and released or leave as FAs and we'll probably have enough to buy a player or two should they want to go that route. Double Edit: Crap...I forgot there are still rumors of a capless season next year. I can't imagine how that will impact the offseason
