Yes there are 2 decisions here, the first being whether to bunt with Amaya. Ok you chose to bunt with him and he did a great job getting it down. But it makes no sense to me to sacrifice an out only to put up a guy with massive contact issues to take the biggest AB of the game. And makes even less sense that he was swinging to hit the ball onto Sheffield. I know TT will probsbly have all these rebuttals to make me look stupid but on the surface that’s really questionable to me -

Now the pressure is on to win tonight with Hendricks going on Sunday. Not going to tank the season or anything but really don’t want to lose a series to a team that came in 4-15

And this doesn’t include the game where we gave up 6 runs to the Rockies in the 8th to tie it only to win. This team cannot hold leads late they tied a major league record with 5 losses with an 8+ inning lead in September and then came out and did it 4 more times in the first month of 2024, with still quite a few games left to tie or set the new record

This is now the 9th game the Cubs have lost while leading in the 8th inning over their last 48 games (yes I’m going to keep doing this until the Cubs stop losing games they are leading in the 8th inning or later)
