  1. Yeah that' what I've been getting too. Does anyone know how to watch the game?!?!?!!?!
  2. Yeah I mean it sucks that we have to pay so much but I don't fault them for charging that much if our fans will pay it and pack the place. The price of being popular I guess. The best part about all the tickets basically selling out is that if the team sucks, I can go to a lot of games for dirt cheap. The downside of course is that when they are awesome, it's nearly impossible to get a cheap ticket.
  3. You can't say you actually don't hate it, the pictures are iffy and it looks pretty cool. You can say it's bad, it's okay, or it's good. It looks like crap here, even more crowded than the other angle. The banner is ridiculous, especially the dumb slogan. Why can't say all that? "don't hate it" indicates an overall favorable response towards the photos but not an overwhemling like. "the pictures are iffy" one thing he's not favorable about is the actual pictures used on the banners. This is something that hinders him from truly loving the banners. "it looks pretty cool", overall he thinks that hanging of the banners, including the horizontal banner that goes across the top of the marquee makes the exterior of the park look pretty cool.
  4. Damn 95% of your fans want to face the Hawks?
  5. I've seen stand alone banners, but not 8 packed in tightly around the marquee. One year saw a game in Cleveland and they had very similar banners all around the outside. It wasn't really packed around the marquee like this though. I think the Twins do something similar (though I haven't seen a game up there in awhile and can't totally remember). Maybe I'm a sucker for advertisement but it does kind of get me excited for baseball -- which I'm sure is the intent. The Twins did do something similar last year when I went there. They actually had a cool feel outside the ballpark before the games. Obviously that has changed now that they play at Target Field
  6. Fine but that still doesn't prove that there is any negative effect to them making the playoffs and getting stomped. You can argue the level of benefit though from minute to fairly beneficial. I would just enjoy knowing that the team accomplished something despite losing last year's leading scorer, starting off the season really poorly, trading 2 key role players to teams your competing for playoff spots with, and dealing with injuries to the 3 best players on the team at the same time for a 5-10 game stretch.
  7. He heard the Cubs were hoping to retire Steve Buchelle's number 24 so he had to switch. In determing the number to switch to, he wanted to honor the legendary Julio Zutela and his slump breaking fruit voodoo.
  8. Yeah, I don't see how it could be worse to make the playoffs and get destroyed. While I think it will be an easy sweep, I would imagine 1 of the games, probably game 3 would be reasonably close. Enough to give people like Taj some valuable experience, or something intangible like that.
  9. I can't laugh at you, you've won a championship 71 years more recently than our last one.
  10. I ended up snapping some photos last night, but it was at night and with my crappy iPhone camera so they aren't of the highest quality. Oh well.... http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/d7868d38be.jpg http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/1916226ca8.jpg
  11. Whoops lol. Speaking of 2nd, tonights win ensured that the lowest seed the Hawks can get is 2.
  12. Looks like right now the Hawks round 1 opponent will either be: -Nashville (currently 5th with 98 points and 80 GP) -Detroit (currently 6th with 96 points and 79 GP) -Los Angeles (currently 7th with 95 points and 78 GP....losing 2-0 early tonight) -Colorado (currently 8th with 91 points and 78 GP...winning 2-1 after 1st tonight) -Calgary (currently out of playoffs with 89 points 79 GP...losing 2-0 to SJ in 2nd tonight) Right now the Hawks if they win will be either tied or down 2 points to SJ depending on how the SJ game ends (winning 2-0 right now) with the Hawks having a game in hand. Most likely though, with the Hawks tough schedule to finish, the Hawks will probably finish 7th, making the likely opponents Nashville, Detroit, and LA. Nashville we had success with in terms of W-L this year, especially winning that home and home back in December, yet they have given us trouble in those games. We all know none of us want Detroit. How does everyone feel about LA as a first round opponent?
  13. Yowza. If they can keep this 4 goal lead, it would be a minor statement that the Hawks are back, considering how much trouble Dallas gave us this year even when things were going great.
  14. Man I don't know if I want to feed into your geeking out. I am probably going to be driving that way before dark, so I'll see what I can do but no promises. If not, I'm sure BCB will have photos up within the next few hours, Al always seems to love positing that stuff.
  15. I like it, and whoever says "it sucks because it ruins Wrigley's mystique" or some other BS is stupid because Wrigley from the outside, save the marquee is really ugly.
  16. Shut up, they are the best fans in baseball and you know it.
  17. I kind of assumed the Cubs were going to disband after yesterday's performance. Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning and they were still there.
  18. First 2 games of the season on WCIU and CSN+. No wonder the Cubs are playing like a minor league team. They are getting minor league exposure.
  19. That lineup is horrible. What's even more horrible is that 4 of those players were offseason acquisitions.
  20. It's just another way to group pitchers in terms of level of talent. I don't see the issue.
  21. I think Z is the epitome of what an ideal number 2 for a good team would be. Very good stuff. Shows flashes of dominance, but isn't consistent enough to be relied on as an ace.
  22. you should move to Vegas and bet on random events occuring in cubs games.
  23. Santo: all you can really do is go back to the hotel and cry. Pat: that's a very mature approach Ron.
