  1. Well, even a good team is going to look piss poor over the course of a 162 game season, and lose to bad teams. Not that this is necessarily a good Cubs team. the problem is that by far the cubs easiest part of the schedule is right now and almost over. We are going to be having way too many "impossible" stretches in the coming months. If we can't beat the pirates nats and astros how are we going to fare against the cards and phils? A somewhat .500 team after playing this schedule makes me feel like we are dealing with an 85-90 loss team when all is said and done
  2. Probably the easiest schedule in the majors so far. What's gonna happen when we play the Phillies and Colorados of the world?
  3. what's left of the flyers suck.
  4. Uh oh.....Ted looks more like second start Ted than first start Ted. Watch this be the game we get 7-8 runs......and give up 10.
  5. Can't he do something about it? I'm sure someone out there is willing to pay him money to pitch a product. I mean it sucks that he grew up in the wrong time period, but he also didn't play in a time period where football was 24/7/365. He probably used training camp to get in shape, when nowadays players show off how buff they got during their offseason training programs. I'm sure Sayers would have been happy to work year round to make the big bucks, but I'm just stating what a different game it is today. Walking around moping isn't going to help him. I don't think either of us can speak with any degree of certainty about what Gale Sayers has really been doing with his life since he retired. Assuming he's "walking around moping" and hasn't done anything else is a pretty big leap. I don't know anything about the guy. For all I know he's a whiney little ass. But he's also a famous former Bear that probably gets a mike shoved in his face all the time and he's bitter about how the NFL takes care of its veterans. Would I prefer that he not come off like this so much? sure. But there might be a whole lot to him that I just don't see. You act like he's being forced to talk. I see him on Bears postgame live, or appearing on Chicago Tribune live or various media outlets. If he's pissed about how the NFL takes care of its vets, I haven't heard him complain about it once (maybe I just missed it). It's one thing to be bitter about that, and its another to always be down on the Bears for seemingly no reason. I wish I could make a more compelling argument but I can't recall specifics as to what he's been negative about in the past, but it seems like every time I hear about him he's complaining about one thing or another.
  6. It would certainly lock in his reputation as the Nick Saban of college basketball. Apples to oranges. I would hate it for Kentucky if Calipari leaves and Kentucky faces potential sanctions. Says the Alabama fan
  7. Well, he must be lobbing pitches up to the plate so swinging would seem to be appropriate. He's allowed 31.9% LD percentage so far and 35% of his fly balls given up have been for home runs (which translates to teams batting .384 off of him and him giving up 3.26 HR/9 so far). His K/BB ratio is actually pretty decent but he's still getting pounded. Nope. 95MPH over the middle of the plate. The first three innings you'll be shaking your heads. The second time through the lineup, he'll start using his curve and missing, and everyone will sit on the fastball. Want to make a gentlemen's bet that he earns at least a quality start tonight for the Buccos?
  8. He did fine with San Diego when he was traded for their stretch run. Yeah but when he realized that he was doing so well, he purposely tore his ACL or whatever he did and missed the rest of the season.
  9. It was way too high you racist [expletive] /bradley
  10. It would certainly lock in his reputation as the Nick Saban of college basketball.
  11. It's weird. They did say that, but those player banners are still there. They did however take down the long horizontal banner that went above the marquee, as well as all "Opening Day" signs.

  13. Not even close for me and three words explain it all: FIVE OUTS AWAY See the biggest reason why 2008 stung more is because by Memorial Day we were almost on playoff cruise control (with some bumps in the way). Everyone was just kinda waiting for the postseason, and expecting great things because that was a terrific team. In 2003, the playoff race was half the battle. Remember at that point, the Cubs had made the playoffs just 1 time in the last 14 years. So making the playoffs with a team that lost 90 games the year before was a significant accomplishment. I don't think many would have hung their heads if the Cubs lost game 5 in Atlanta. It was of course very painful because we all believed we were going to do it. In 2008, we had made the postseason the year before, making the playoffs wasn't a big accomplishment for us. We all just waited several months for the playoffs to start, and when they did, the team basically flatlined and in the blink of an eye it was over.
  14. Not just Howard, some of things we've seen happen never happened to past Wings teams. But, you've got to consider they're not those great Wings anymore, pretty close to average team now. Its not like they are being dominated. They have had some huge bad breaks and yet have come real close to winning all three games. If Pavelski, Clowe and Thorton keep playing at the level they are SJ will win the Stanley Cup Honestly, I don't think it will happen but the way every game in the series has been anyone's game, it wouldn't be crazy if Detroit at least makes things interesting. It will depend on their mental state going into game 4 I guess. Some teams have a "nothing to lose" attitude when these things happen, others fall apart.
  15. Not just Howard, some of things we've seen happen never happened to past Wings teams. But, you've got to consider they're not those great Wings anymore, pretty close to average team now. i actually think they're the 2nd best team in the west. i also think the sharks really are THAT good, especially if that first line is actually going well. have i posted about my pool team? this is pretty funny i think. here's my roster: Ilya Kovalchuk Zach Parise Brooks Laich Tomas Fleischmann Anze Kopitar Shane Doan Brian Rafalski Nick Lidstrom Nik Kronwall Jack Johnson Jimmy Howard Martin Brodeur i was a kiss of death. sorry to fans of these teams, including myself. Thank you for not picking any Blackhawks.
  16. If the Big Ten adding teams is going to cause a radical realignment of BCS conferences I don't know if I like it as much as I thought. Plus no one has figured out how we are going to put Purdue and Indiana in separate divisions for fairness sake.
  17. He is right near the top of my list. The problem people might have with him is that he is a my way or the highway kind of coach. Similar to Skiles. Preaches defense. He style of coaching can wear people down though. I was reading on RealGM that he apparently has a reputation of not being the hardest worker if that means anything.
  18. Definitely the preferred matchup. We definitely don't have a mental barrier against Detroit. That said, enough talking about WCF opponents. We are still in a dogfight that is completely up in the air right now. I do hope that Detroit can take 1-2 games before bowing out. Don't want to give a team a 7-10 days off in the middle of a long playoff grind.
  19. Don't worry, after losing a few more, by the weekend we'll be hitting everything in sight and will win a couple 12-2 games.
  20. And both teams grab a point! I mean go to sudden death OT.
  21. I don't know why I feel this way, but if the Sharks win this series, and the Blackhawks somehow advance, I feel like the Hawks would destroy SJ even without home ice. 5-6 games at most.
  22. Sounds like they are taking after their hockey half name sake.
  23. It's not a series until a home team loses.
  24. What the hell are we going to do with Aramis? I still think he could snap out of this tomorrow, but this is really going on for awhile.
