  1. 3 different Hawks have lost their helmets and played a short stretch without them in this game. It's like all the stick breaking in the last game.
  2. Dammit I would have been so much happier and confident going into this intermission with a 2 goal lead. Now I'm a wreck. We can't blow this game. Assuming you believe we split in Vancouver, this is the game we are supposed to win.
  3. Why have the Hawks been having so much trouble with all things involving line changes? So frustrating
  4. [expletive] couldn't make it out of the period with the 3-1 lead. Now Vancouver has all the momentum going into the 3rd. SOB
  5. no it wasnt...pretty classless actually Why? The fans were booing the crap out of him, the Canucks players were gooning it up, Buff made sure everyone understood the scoreboard is the most important part. I wouldn't say it was classy, but I don't think it was classless.
  6. I was wondering why the first 2 games weren't more physical and rather lame. This is what I expected.
  7. Neither did Vancouver's coach before the series started. I bet he knows now.
  8. Vancouver keeps shooting themselves in the foot. I'll take it!
  9. Are you being sarcastic? No one is saying the Hawks were done, just noting that they were being outplayed for a good chunk of time and they weren't likely to hold a 1 goal lead playing like this. But sometimes Burrows happens.
  10. BUFF!!!! Love it! I thought they were being too patient, but it worked out. Like Foley said, stupid penalty, make them pay!
  11. In a way this is kinda playing out like game 2 but the roles reversed. Canucks jump out to a 2-0 lead, and then the Hawks dominate pretty much the rest of the game.
  12. We're not going to win this game playing the way we are right now.
  13. See I would have preferred the Hawks remain in their funk and win 2-0, but that's just me. :)
  14. You can feel the momentum shift. Crowd is really into it now.
  15. Dammit, what a lucky bounce. 2-1. We really need to play better than this.
  16. Who wants to bet if the Canucks do score a goal it's not gonna come on a well executed play but come seemingly harmless shot from the point.
  17. Great period for buff too. And not just because he scored. He was all over the place the later half of the period.
  18. this definitely looks like one of those games for Lu where he gives up way too many rebounds and has trouble getting the puck covered.
  19. That was quite a stretch there for Niemi!
  20. Whatta save! Edit: Where is everyone?
  21. SCORRRREEEE!!!! STEEG!!!! Thank GOD they didn't blow the whistle like I figured they would on the road.
  22. ARE YOU SERIOUS?? Another "too many men" penalty on the Hawks? How hard can this be??
  23. Well, even a good team is going to look piss poor over the course of a 162 game season, and lose to bad teams. Not that this is necessarily a good Cubs team. the problem is that by far the cubs easiest part of the schedule is right now and almost over. We are going to be having way too many "impossible" stretches in the coming months. If we can't beat the pirates nats and astros how are we going to fare against the cards and phils? A somewhat .500 team after playing this schedule makes me feel like we are dealing with an 85-90 loss team when all is said and done How many impossible stretches can there really be in this schedule? The NL sucks this year. What teams do you consider good? The Phillies, Cardinals, Giants, and Dodgers would probably be my top 4. I'm not sure any other team in the NL is even better than us. We're going to play like 40 games against really good teams. Fair point. I'm just saying the schedule we've played so far is almost all teams you should be beating up on. We'll have to see how we're doing in 3 weeks after we get done playing this upcoming stretch 2 vs. COL 2 @ PHI 3 @ TEX 3 vs. LAD 3 vs. STL Who knows we could be playing good ball and play .500 or slightly over in that stretch.
  24. We'll see. Their performance to this point does not dictate the rest of year since it's still only the first of May. If Aramis ever wakes up and Lou gets wise and starts playing Soto more and higher in the lineup you could see this offense be much more consistent. Nothing is set in stone at this point. you are right nothing is set in stone. That's why they play the games. But it's looking increasingly unlikely that we are going anywhere. Even if we get better hitting, can we assume that the pitching will hold up. Will gorz and silva have under 3 eras all year? Hell the pen hasn't even had the chance to suck for us lately. And despite all this we could get our crap together. But don't expect to fatten up on crappy teams to get back in a playoff race. Well have to play .550-.600 ball against a schedule that is packed with contenders. So unless we suddenly play like a top 1-2 team in the NL it's gonna be tough. Were not going to be able to win 85 games and take a weak division this year.
