Bob's going to get the call to Europe and I'm almost as excited about that as I am about any player getting transferred. Let's talk about Benny Feilhaber. Benny has been the first midfielder off the bench for the last two games and he's been very good in both. It's the same role he played in the good run last summer. It's pretty evident that he's not a 90 minute regular starter, but what's his deal? I haven't seen him play a ton of club ball. He just seems like a really smart sub who gets a feel for the game's pace early on. He definitely raises his game on the big stage (BENNY...FEEEEEIIILHAAABER!!! YEEEEEESS!) but he's never really done anything eye catching at club level that I've been aware of. Didn't he play a full game in the confed cup championship when bradley was suspended and looked pretty good?

I don't have any idea if I'm doing this right but... Previously we had 14 players signed for 57.6 M next year Buff cost $3 M, Sopel 2.3M, Eager was an RFA. Reasoner adds 1.15M next year. So we cut 4.2 M from our payroll. Now we have 13 players signed for 53.4 M. I keep forgetting what "our" cap is....was it like $56.X? OK so now cut 5.6M from the books for ridding outselves of Niemi. That puts us at 12/47.8 M. So you need 10 guys. These are UFA/RFA that have at least a slight chance of coming back: -Burish (UFA) -Skille (RFA) -Niemi (RFA) -Fraser (RFA) -Hjalmarsson (RFA) -Hendry (RFA) -Bickell (RFA) Is it possible to sign all 7?

I dont think so....i mean really depends....if someone signs Versteeg and Niemi to huge offer sheets, all bets are off. I still think we will need to get rid of Versteeg before all is said and done.

Morin was the Thrashers 2nd round pick last year, 19 years old and a LW. Reasoner is a 33 year old 4th line center that played in 80 games last year and had 4 goals and 13 assists. Neither are big guys. We just traded 2 bangers and got 2 little dudes in return, we need bruisers. But we got a 1st and basically two 2nds, so I'm not upset.

Lets not underestimate the opponent of course but this is a good draw. I obviously watched all the games in 06 and I try to watch the USMNT as much as I can but for the experts here, tell me why the USA is more likely to beat Ghana now than they were in 06 when they lost.

Again, how can that be true? Ghana has 4 points, Australia has 1 point, Germany and Serbia both have 3 points. If Ghana wins, they move to 7 points. If Australia wins they move to 4 points. If Germany and Serbia both lose, they stay at 3 points. Australia advances no matter the score if they and Ghana win.

We can get Australia if they beat Serbia and Ghana beats Germany...the standings would be: Ghana 7 Australia 4 Germany 3 Serbia 3

Right now its Ghana 4 (1) Germany 3 (3) Serbia 3 (0) Australia 1 (-4) Ghana plays Germany Serbia plays Australia If Ghana and Serbia win, they both advance and the USA plays Serbia If Ghana and Australia win, then they both advance and USA plays Australia If Ghana wins and Serbia and Aussie tie, then Ghana and Serbia advance and USA plays Serbia If Germany and Serbia win, then they both advance and USA plays Serbia unless Serbia wins by 3 more goals than Germany does. If Germany and Australia win, then Germany and Ghana advance unless Australia makes up a 5 goals in GD over Ghana, so the USA plays Ghana If Germany wins and Serbia and Aussie tie, then Germany advances and the runner up gets confusing. Right now Ghana leads GD 1-0, but if they lost, at the very least it would be a tied GD, which means GS comes into play. Right now Ghana has scored 2 goals and Serbia 1, so if Ghana ends up scoring the same number of goals as Serbia does today (or more), they would advance. Honestly? Not that much. FIFA doesn't care that much about money. Oh so there is a very good chance that we could get to host our 2nd world cup in 30 years because why?

We should act like big babies if we lose and threaten not to compete in the next world cup. We'll see how much they miss us and our money that our fans bring.
