  1. Not watching Caleb Williams pro day and I'm sure some of the reaction is fluff but I'll still bite when I read nothing but glowing reviews about his performance. His last throw (I think) was a 55 yard dime.
  2. Weird, I don't think I did anything differently than normal (just kidding im trying to sabotage you)
  3. Trying to mostly stay out of the JJ debate because there is no way I can be impartial about evaluating him but just wanted to point out that that JJ messed up his knee at the end of the first half of the PSU game, to the point where he could barely walk the next week, almost didnt play vs Maryland and almost left the game against Maryland at halftime. The Maryland game by far was his worst statistical game of the season. I mean its not like he was terrible before they stopped passing vs Penn State (I think he was 7-8 for 60 yards or something like that). Their tackle was getting burned by Chop Robinson on almost every drop back too which certainly also played into the decision to rely on the run more. I see several NFL traits from JJ, but can also understand why people are pushing back hard against his rise. Not a sure thing at all and probably needs 1-2 years of development but I think he can be a good NFL QB.
  4. Bumping an old thread... Sweet more revenue for the Ricketts to invest back into the team!
  5. Trubisky? Drafted the same year as Mahomes and Watson? Or am I forgetting another QB draft pick by the Bears?
  6. Radio is the premier gig over TV, just ask Len Kasper.
  7. Not a bad choice. Per KenPom they are the only team on the same tier as UConn. One of the only games of theirs I watched this year was the B12 title game where they were destroyed by ISU so my brain now irrationally associates them with that. Also looking at the team that everyone thinks has the best shot to knock off UConn in their bracket which is Auburn. They are the only team in the top 10 of both adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency (10th off, 4th def). UConn (1st off, 12th def) and Arizona (8th off, 11th def) are both close as well. Actually Arizona is not a bad pick as well, their bracket looks fairly weak starting with the worst number 1 seed in the field (UNC)
  8. This will be the 8th time over the last 25 years (roughly 1/3 of seasons) where the season has started internationally day(s) before the other teams so it’s not exactly a new concept: 1999 - Mets and Padres in Monterrey, Mexico 2000 - Cubs and Mets in Tokyo 2004 - Devil Rays and Yankees in Tokyo 2008 - Red Sox and Rays in Tokyo 2012 - Mariners and A’s in Tokyo 2014 - Dodgers and Diamondbacks in Sydney 2019 - Mariners and A’s in Tokyo 2024 - Dodgers and Padres in Seoul I think it’s cool personally
  9. Seeing more mocks where 4 QBs and the 3 WRs all go in the first 8 picks. While I'm still definitely interested in one of the WRs, and also interested in trading down it would not be a horrible thing if the Bears were able to land the top rated QB AND the 2nd best non-QB/WR in the draft. That's good value. It also makes me think about how if we had won just one less game last year our draft pick would be 6th instead of 9th. No one would have cared at this point if we were 7-10 or 6-11 but sitting at 6 we'd be in great position to either trade down to a team that wants JJ McCarthy for a decent haul, or potentially draft the 2nd best WR of the group/guarantee one of the big 3 WRs.
  10. Well played Kevin Warren
  11. oooo that's an interesting idea I hadn't thought of. That said I'm not sure how much a RB that can't pass block, isn't a major factor in the passing game and has 1 year left on his contract will fetch. Maybe a 5 or 6 for a team that could use some RB depth.
  12. Definitely an embarrassing offseason for Boras. He’s getting decent AAV but in general I’m guessing his clients wanted more years and for whatever reason this wasn’t the offseason to be looking for a mega contract. One more to go….
  13. Would have probably made it in 1967, 1968 and 1969 if they had the same postseason format as most of Sammy's career. I'm not defending or adding to any arguments here, I just saw your post and wanted to add that. They finished with the 3rd best record in the NL all 3 years.
  14. For me personally, Sammy Sosa saved me from being a White Sox fan. I was a fan of both teams growing up but if you put a gun to my head I would have said I preferred the White Sox by the slightest of margins. The summer of 1998 made me fall in love with Sammy and the Cubs for life and I never looked back.
  15. I’m hyped. Another chance to finally have an elite QB in Chicago and while he has weaknesses, he’s one that people seem to consider better than the first QB taken most years.
  16. He would be one of the very rare QBs that fail on their first team and become something with their second team. Everyone said the same about Mitch too and look how that turned out. Of course we’ll never know if QBs that don’t pan out were ruined by poor development that can’t be overcome or if they were not good enough. I think there’s a reason Justin dropped from 2 to 11 in the draft and we saw that reason. Maybe better coaching and scheming makes him a little better but doesn’t seem to me like the Bears “ruined” him.
  17. Some more reaction from players on twitter
  18. I can only assume Kyle is out getting drunk in celebration? anyways former bears teammates are chiming in
  19. Fields already sent out a tweet thanking Chicago...obviously knew this was coming and they were never gonna wait until camp to trade him.
  20. I hate that it had to happen but it was absolutely the right move and I’m happy they made it. But I’ll be cheering on fields. He had obvious flaws but he was exciting and fun and represented the team well.
  21. I swear we just had this exact same conversation yesterday with the exact same participants.
  22. Geez the man is literally fighting for his life right now. There has to be a gentler way to express your dislike of his baseball career
  23. The difference probably to the Cubs (besides his kid being in the org) is that McGwire admitted to his mistakes and the Ricketts seem to be obsessed with making sure Sosa admits his. It's really freaking dumb but that's where we are. There are rumors that Sosa was willing to admit to "making mistakes" several years ago and in return would be welcomed back into the fold but at the last minute Sosa backed out. I have to assume that's still the same condition the Ricketts are setting.
  24. I dont know how stacked they are. I think all the teams are good but none of them are great. I know the Packers are the youngest team and the Lions almost made the Super Bowl but meh. Their records were elevated last year because all the teams had ridiculously easy schedules last year. I could be way off, but I don't see a juggernaut in the division that I'm afraid of.
