  1. I believe I remember reading that it's blacked out in San Diego
  2. The NFL Network but not until tomorrow. Also goto this site and see if the stream works: http://atdhe.net/
  3. How much do we love our Bears in Chicago? There is an hour long pregame show for a preseason game. Do we need a game thread for this like we've done in the past for preseason games, or should we just keep everything in here until the season starts.
  4. The Cubs have the same record (48-68) through 116 games as they had in 2006.
  5. Cubs now on pace for a 67-95 season. Getting close to 2006 territory. 2-14 stretch....ouch.
  6. In the 1st inning yesterday of the Twins and White Sox game, the score was tied 1-1 and the Sox had the bases loaded and 2 outs. Whoever it was hit a ball to deep center and this was Hawks call: "that ball hit DEEP! WAAAAAY back. C'MON STRETCH! AW DAW GAMMUT! Sox leave them loaded. GAH!....AGGGGH................It's 1-1..." (commercial break) I can't really express what noises he was making with "GAH" and "AGGGH". They were completely Santoesque involuntary sounds of dejection.
  7. My malware thing said it was a picture of Kane and Kodos
  8. Wow I had no idea that ARod and Braun were both sub-.800 OPS hitters this year. (but barely). Actually its funny that despite an OPS of .799, ARod is on pace for 26 HRs and 132 RBIs.
  9. To be fair, I don't think he had much of a chance to "stack up" the OL, AFTER he got Cutler. Part of the investment for that franchise QB was two #1 picks and a 3rd round pick. By the time the Bears 1st pick came this year, there were no linemen on the board that were worthwhile. The FA class of OL was pretty weak due to no CBA, so no help there either. Additionally, before 2009 he did spend on Omiyale, Pace, and invested heavily in essentially a highly drafted rookie in Chris Williams year and probably thought he had a solid line for at least a couple years. That being said, the Gaines Adams trade was stupid, even when he was alive. And could have been potential OL help in the 2nd round this year (like Beadles or Ducasse). He traded back in 2009 and could have had an OL like Levitre, Vollmer, Beatty, or Loadholt who all started some games as rookies. I think the problem with the Oline is that Angelo basically ignored it from 2005-2008
  10. You don't think Ramirez is a fan favorite and people resent him? That's not been my experience at Cubs games. I can't remember ever hearing Ramirez get booed at a Cubs game and I can remember a lot of other Cubs like Lee, Zambrano, Marmol, Fukudome, Soriano, Wood, etc. booed. Just because I didn't hear it doesn't mean it hasn't happened. And admittedly, I've only been to 1 game this season (but between 10-15 every other season since 2004). I'm just saying other than a couple of idiots on sports radio and an occasional poster here, I don't hear much negativity about Ramirez. I'm not saying he's beloved but I think he's up there in the hierarchy of active Cubs players who are liked.
  11. lol, the White Sox trailed 3-1 to the Twins and loaded the bases with 0 outs and their 3-4-5 hitters coming up and didn't score. Then the next inning, they loaded the bases with 1 out and still didn't score.
  12. Do me a favor guys, don't try for tickets to the banner raising game against Detroit because I want to go to that one, ok?
  13. Todays "I'm so cool because I don't care about the Cubs this season" moment: A buddy asked me if the Cubs were playing today. I said "nope". Then I posted on NSBB on and off all afternoon, and didnt even realize there was a game thread until 5 minutes ago, when I saw that not only were they playing today, the game was 2/3rds over and they are predictably getting their butts kicked.
  14. Hawks tickets go on sale this monday (8/16) at 10AM. I hope to God I can get tickets for the banner raising.
  15. Yeah thats what I'm saying. The offensive coaches have to have confidence in the O-line if they are comfortable going to the 5 step drop.
  16. I haven't suffered for 102 years, but I have to hear about the futile team that I picked to support above all others almost every day. So it matters some, just not a lot.
  17. i thought the part about "see what happens" is obviously a dig at turner. i don't think our receivers are the sharpest tools in the shed, so an offense that tells them where to be, rather then gives them the opportunity to react and other options probably wasn't best for them. "johnny, run as fast as you can to this spot and catch the ball." that'll work. That's offensive play calling that is built around the idea that the QB won't have much time to throw. Reading between the lines, the offensive line still sucks. This offense just doesn't have time to let plays develop. They have to force plays to happen. Isn't that just the concept of the Mike Martz offense (throwing to a spot rather than throwing and reacting)? If anything it's predicting more time to throw on offense because Martz's offense primarily uses a 5 step drop when last year Cutler was throwing from a 3 step drop most of the year.
  18. You're basically criticizing yourself for not being That Guy that you always are. well, at least i beat you to it. Yes, because if I'm known for anything here it's for living by the stupid "everything bad of course will happen to the Cubs" mantra. That's actually the only reason I came here to read this thread. You guys let me down. This, from the guy who roots for baseballs worst team, 18 losing years running. Yet still have a championship drought that is 71 years less than ours.
  19. If the time that he did pitch, he gave me enough bad memories to last a lifetime.
  20. Haha that article cracks me up. My favorites: Australians are fond of coarse language. Polish tourists are likely to be hurt by stereotypes that imply they drink excessively. Chinese may be unimpressed by landmarks just a few hundred years old.
  21. Obviously something is being shown by Louis to be practicing with the 1st team after being drafted as a 7th round tight end last april. He's doing something right. As for Omiyale, I think moving him back to his natural tackle position will make him servicable. I buy into the theory that moving to guard last season was a big part of the reason he was so mind bendingly awful. I don't think he'll be above average or anything, but average at RT would be a nice thing to see. I think there is actually some upside with this O-line, and I havent been able to say that in awhile. Whether the upside will actually come to fruition remains to be seen.
  22. I love that the commercial completely ignores his time with the White Sox.
  23. Do we never use Marshall or Marmol in close games anymore? I feel like everytime I turn on the game its Russell or Berg or one of the other young relievers blowing a close game.
  24. I feel like a fan of a team 10 years ago said the same thing. That man is going to pitch until he dies.
  25. Does anyone know why Hoffpauir is hitting 3rd? Because the 1st baseman is supposed to hit 3rd dude? This would have been a good opportunity to try some other guys out in the 3 hole.
