  1. I don't know. Detroit is still tough and 2 of the 3 are at Joe Louis. The Wings are a bit beat up and are playing for seeding, not for their playoff lives, but they would still love nothing more than to knock us out. It's probably a good thing that we are playing 2 of the 3 games as the last 2 games of the season. The chances that Detroit rests some guys before the playoff starts is good (also more likely they've clinched the 2 seed by then).
  2. I don't need to remind anyone how critical these 2 games are tonight and tomorrow. While they are not against our direct competition, they are back to back road games against 2 of the top teams in the NHL. With 8 games left in the season, we will probably have a better feel for whether the Hawks are going to take a playoff spot after tomorrow night. How many points from the 2 games would you be comfortable with? I'd honestly be happy with 2 points. Anything less would be a small dagger to our playoff hopes.
  3. I think there's enough smoke out there that it's pretty clear that this wasn't Hendry's decision alone. The real story will likely never be known. I think the guesses so far in this thread sound about right.
  4. I wonder if this will help push the NCAA to the 128 team tournament. I mean if VCU was team number 68 this year, and one that was blasted as a team that had no business making it, then it was possible that a Final Four caliber team could have been left out of the field.
  5. If you had bet that VCU and Butler would both reach the Final 4. How much money would you win if VCU closes out Kansas?
  6. It's even better when you go to your rivals home and win a championship ;) Didn't see the game, kept checking updates on my phone saw the Bucks were up 14 I think at one point in the 3rd? Told my buddy don't worry they will blow this. Sure enough they did. Good luck the rest of the way to Bulls fans. they didn't blow it. Nope, Rose decided he'd like to win that game.
  7. It's even better when you go to your rivals home and win a championship ;) Funny we didnt even need to beat the Bucks 3rd string players.
  8. 7th best record and the only reason they're 5 points back on the 4 spot is because of 3 games in hand I was gonna say that the good news is that they have games in hand over everyone ahead of them, but at the same time, i doubt any of them have a harder schedule down the stretch than us. 3 of our last 8 are against Detroit for instance. The games in hand might not mean as much. We'll see. Dallas seems to be fading. Thank God they lost tonight...if they had won, we'd be in a tie for 8th/9th in the West, and even in games.
  9. Hawks now in 8th and 5 points behind the 4th seed we just occupied maybe 10-12 days ago. :(
  10. Ugh, the prices were insane for playoff tickets. I had to buy tickets in the 300 level behind the backboards for $100 per ticket. Insane. $75 is the cheapest seats you could buy, and the SRO seats cost $50. I bought those 2 tickets in the 300 level for game 1 round a, 2 SRO tickets to game 2 round b, and thanks to my 1/8th share of season tickets from Garwilly, 2 tickets in the 300 level for game 2 round b.
  11. Grabbed some numbers about the playoff race: Anaheim: 9-3-1 points in 10 of last 13 Calgary: 9-6-3, points in 12 of last 18 (currently 1-4-2 in last 6) Chicago: 13-3-4, points in 17 of last 20 games Dallas: 7-2-4, points in 11 of last 13 games Los Angeles 10-3-2, points in 12 of last 15 games Nashville: 9-2-2, points in 11 of last 13 Phoenix: 8-1-1, points in 9 of last 10 games Excluding Calgary, who is slumping badly and needs a miracle to stay in the race, there are 6 teams fighting for 5 spots. The combined streaks of the 6 teams fighting for the playoffs is 56-14-14. That means that these teams have gotten points in 70 of their last 84 possible games. Overall they've taken 128 of the 168 available points over that span. Considering at least 1 game matchup up 2 of these teams seems to happen every night, that's amazing. If you take away 2 wins, and make it an 82 game stretch (a season), that team would get 124 points. No team in the NHL can reach 124 points this year. Amazing
  12. At least the Preds and Ducks didn't go into OT! That means for the first time in what feels like a month, a playoff contender played a game and couldnt earn a single point.
  13. Another day.....2 playoff contenders were in action, and they both won as usual.
  14. Glad to hear you had such a great experience. I think I will have to try them out the next time I need a jersey. Fortunately, I loaded up with the modells sale. While I didnt get 2 hawks jerseys for 110, i got 1 for 89.99 so that's not all that bad. Anyways, thanks for the review.
  15. I remember back when we were obsessed with getting Peavy, a couple of posters commented on the injury concerns with Peavy and were quicky shot down. Looks like it was good that we didn't end up getting him.
  16. In what world are the Flames ahead of the Hawks? The hypothetical world that dexter created
  17. If you count NBA TV, parts of most of their games are available nationally with that nightly show they have "live look ins" to a majority of the games in a given night. If there is a tight Bulls game late, you will almost definitely be able to watch it on NBA TV. but yeah 39/82 games is pretty good coverage. And when you consider that only legit NBA fans are gonna be watching games that don't involve their favorite team, lets just say that any more than casual NBA fans have had ample opportunity to watch Derrick Rose and the Bulls this year.
  18. If the Hawks were down 1 point to Calgary with 2 games in hand I'm certainly going to say that the Hawks are ahead. Temporary the Flames are ahead because they've accumulated more points than the Hawks. When the Hawks make up those games and take the lead, then they will move ahead and be considered ahead of the Flames.
  19. i don't understand the point of saying that and ignoring games in hand. Thats just how I look at it. Being behind the pace still means you need to make up those points. If the Bulls were 49-19 and the Celtics 50-19, I would say the Bulls were a half game behind Boston but have played 1 less game. It's a big part of the equation no doubt, but being 2 points behind a team with a game in hand still requires them to make up those points.
  20. This race is really bunched up. Despite the win, the Hawks are just 1 point away from 9th place, and that's Dallas, who is even with the Hawks in games played. 4. Phoenix 89 +2 5. Chicago 86 0 6. Los Angeles 86 0 7. Nashville 86 +1 8. Anaheim 85 0 ---------------------- 9. Dallas 85 0 10.Calgary 84 +2
  21. Yeah I was stuck with the Phoenix broadcast, who were more preoccupied with their ownership situation than the game. God I hope that team moves to Winnipeg. WGN didn't give any updates on Sharp? They said it was a leg injury but didnt know much else other than that he was out for the game. $%$%$^ Anaheim beats Calgary in OT. I swear it seems like every [expletive] game between playoff contenders has ended in OT/SO lately
  22. I should mention one negative from tonight. Sharp left in the 1st with an injury and didn't return. Not sure the severity yet.
  23. Unbelievably HUGE 2 point. Regulation win against a team that's ahead of you. Amazing.
  24. YES!!!!! Beautiful execution on the power play! Campoli with his first Hawks goal! 2-1 lead with 6 mins left....good opportunity to get at least 1 point.
  25. Kane whiffs on a point blank shot in front of the net. Gah
