I'm not sure what point you are trying to make. A) Bulls fans say Denver would be stupid to hold onto Melo and lose him for nothing B) Bulls fans do not want to give up Noah for Melo C) Melo gets traded to Knicks for a mediocre return that we could have bettered without trading Noah Result: Bulls fans shouldn't get upset? What package do the Bulls have that could better what the Knicks are offering? What is NY's offer again? Wilson Chandler and at least 1 draft pick seem to be the only constants. Curry's expiring deal, Anthony Randolph, an additional draft pick, or the T-Wolves draft pick(in lieu of the Knicks) have been bandied about as additions. Well I don't know then. I havent really been paying close enough attention, but I thuoght that is what you were implying in your original post. Given the year Chandler has been having, I find it hard for the Bulls to match him even with Noah included (considering his extension and BYC status). Deng exceeds him in ability, but his contract makes his value dwarf Chandler's. The Bulls aren't really matched up to make a legit move for Carmelo unless Melo came out and said he wanted to come here more than anywhere else. Of the 5 carryovers from last year's Bulls team, Rose and Noah are virtually untradable for Pax, Taj is a good secondary piece for a trade, Deng has value but an awful contract that doesn't justify his worth, and James Johnson is a throw in at best. The best offer the Bulls can reasonably offer anyone (without Rose and Noah) is Deng, Taj, Brewer, and the Bobcats pick and/or a future Bulls 1st. That almost certanily not enough to beat a Knicks offer at this point.
