  1. It doesn't help when Rose drives the lane and 3 Jazz players make contact across his arms and no foul is called.
  2. I don't think they will but I certainly don't think a person is immediately dumb if they think so. At least until further questioning.
  3. I would say that the Hawks should get 2 points tonight from a really really bad Oilers team who is at the bottom of the NHL in points, but the Hawks have already lost 2 games in regulation to them this year, giving them 1/8th of their wins this year.
  4. I'm not sure. We obviously went 24-13 to finish the season, and before that stretch we played 66 win baseball over the first 125 games (51-74). I don't want to outright dismiss the 24-13 finish, but it was a bit hollow IMO. The pitching was very good but the hitting was actually worse than it was before Quade took over. I am going to guess our pythag record over those 37 games was not anywhere near 24-13. Plus a bunch of those games are part of September baseball, with call ups and expanded rosters, etc. It's hard to accurately evaluate a team in those settings. It's possible they could be worse than last year but I think its more likely they are the same or slightly better. Not sure why PECOTA is down on us this year other than the fact that our team in general is old, although not nearly as old as last year's team.
  5. I agree at this point, but we could have said the same thing about Houston last year and look where they finished compared to us.
  6. I never thought about that but you are absolutely right, at least when he's taking 7 step drops. I have seen him been blindsided plenty of times when protecting breaks down and he's moving around in the pocket.
  7. Thank you so much for this. I was just wondering the other day if they sold tickets to that series yet.
  8. I flipped through a bunch of preseason prognostication magazines (USA Today, Lindys, Athlon, and another one), and 2 of them had the Cubs finishing 4th, the other 2 had them finishing 5th in the Central. The 2 magazines that were updated enough to have Garza on the roster were split (1 4th, 1 5th). No Cubs were mentioned for any awards or anything like that. I feel like 75% of the predictions had Boston vs. Philly in the World Series.
  9. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2011/02/source-bears-will-sign-punter-richmond-mcgee.html Weird, I would have waited until after teh draft to bring in competition for Maynard, to have a chance to get someone fresh out of college, not necessarily in the draft, but in the FA market afterwards. But then again I'm guessing no one knows when FAs will be able to be signed after teh draft.
  10. I was totally expecting Dusty to say "We're gonna win the Central with ease. All the teams in the division suck and got worse."
  11. Not only is Hester not cutting it, he's taking the number of snaps that a 3rd or 4th WR would take. I'm sure the Bears don't see him as a number 1 or 2 receiver at this point, hence the reason they let him take less snaps to concentrate on returning this year
  12. Even if the Bears aren't going to spend a lot in FA, it doesn't make any sense to pay Taylor 4 million dollars to do the job a 4th rounder could do for a third of the price. I agree though, I'd hope they are at least willing to spend what the other guys in the division are spending. Funny how we have the lowest after all the crap about our FA spending last spring.
  13. He has since backed off his statements saying it was out of context. That said, the whole team sucked at closing out in time last night. Btw, if Derrick "Can't play defense" then what the hell was Andre Miller doing last night? Pretending to be a traffic cone? Noah is a great help defender in the post IMO, but individually I think he struggles against the bigger low post defenders. I definitely think he's been overrated by Bulls fans in that regard. I don't think putting Noah on Aldridge last night down the stretch would have changed Aldridge's performance much.
  14. Ugh. Yes well Soto will go from home to first plenty more times than Blake DeWitt or whoever hits 2nd will.
  15. Even less analysis than David. My opinion on whether X player will perform better, worse or the same as last year. I'll predict slash stats for the players I feel like doing it for. Castro - better .288/.340/.432/.772 DeWitt - same Ramirez - better, .290/.374/.510/.884 (I am going with a last harrah season for ARam, ala 2009 Lee) Pena - better, .241/.366/.490/.856 Soriano - same Soto - same Byrd - same Colvin - worse, i want to believe in colvin, i really do. Dempster - worse Garza - slightly better Zambrano - same Wells - slightly better If Silva is 5th starter - worse If Cashner or another pitcher is 5th starter - not enough info to judge Marmol - worse, gives up a few more HRs this year Wood - worse, was unstoppable for NYY, can't be that good this year can he Marshall - same, I think he's legit and figured it out in his role Don't really care/can't predict a role or usage for everyone else. Overall, I see a slightly below average offense, slightly above average pitching and somewhere in the 78-84 win range.
  16. Now that I've calmed down a bit, I am still holding out hope that they sneak into the 8th spot but lets face it. This team is just not good enough for whatever reason. They've been close to full strength for awhile and just arent getting results
  17. blackhawks lose, bulls lose, packers win super bowl, blackhawks lose, bulls losing (but not over yet). Yay? /sulley
  18. Yup, Hawks are not gonna be making the playoffs. Another loss tonight. Just 1-4-0 in their last 5 games. Where's the heart guys?
  19. If all those numbers came true, the Cubs are going to be fighting to avoid 100 losses with their bottom 5 offense and bottom 10 rotation.
  20. Speaking of Chris Williams, it's going to be really interesting to see what position he's playing next season. Yup weve been mentioning that for awhile here. I personally cannot understand how you can build a respectable line with that sort of track record in the draft.
  21. Wasn't really expecting to spend 2 years in a row. We could still find a way to make a trade.
  22. I like football a lot more than hockey. It is what it is. Can't speak for either fanbase, but the Hawks had the most anti-climatic championship ending in the history of pro sports. Only because of the announcing, if they had seen the puck it would have been one of the greatest ever. Wasn't Kane the only guy on the ice who actually realized the puck went in also? It wasn't like the announcers missed some obvious play. But I agree with the general sentiment - the way that game ended definitely made it anticlimactic. I think Sharp did too. I remember he reacted to it and said something about seeing it go in. But yeah everyone else in the arena was wondering why Kane went to the other end of the ice celebrating like a mad man. Even his teammates were extremely tentative in celebrating at first.
  23. You were right when you were congratulating the douchebag rednecks on their super bowl title starting in week 5
  24. [expletive] you packers.
