  1. Yeah, and right when that happened you could hear someone scream "what the f***?!"
  2. 8-47 shooting, 2-24 from 2 point range, 0 points in the paint. This is an epic failure.
  3. Ugh this is awful to watch. Poor Butler.
  4. lol, this is how AZsnakepit.com starts their blog entry: I didn't know the DBacks fans randomly hated us. It's not our fault you can't fill your park.
  5. I dont remember who owes me a nickle!!!!! Congrats on beating out a team with their 3rd string QB in most of the year. Wait, wrong rivalry. Congrats on beating out a team struggling with major injuries most of the year :) I believe that's the congrats we got from Red Wings fans last year. Then we won the Cup.
  6. Yea day games on a Mon, Tues, or Weds haven't happened at home for quite a while. Usually Mon-Weds are night games, and Thurs-Sun are day games when playing at home. There's a night game in May on a Saturday. That one shocked me, I know it's a nationally televised game but when is the last time the Cubs played a home night game on a Friday or Saturday. Holy crap, I didn't know that. I didn't even think the Cubs were allowed to schedule weekend games after 5:05 or whatever the time was. I hope this game gets a really good response and they get the OK to do more. Don't get me wrong, I like the day games from Friday-Sunday too, but mixing in some night games would be cool too.
  7. Today's paid attendance: 26,292. Lowest attended game since 2002. Lowest attended game in recent years: 2010: 29,538 (8/30) 2009: 33,299 (9/30) 2008: 37,812 (4/4) 2007: 32,126 (4/16) 2006: 27,105 (9/7) 2005: 36,791 (4/11) 2004: 37,307 (5/7) 2003: 27,388 (4/16) 2002: 18,151 (4/9) 2001: 16,758 (4/5) 2000: 5,267 (6/1 - due to a rainout the previous day) 1999: 17,999 (4/21) 1998: 12,406 (4/6) We still have a bit to go before we drop to pre-2003 levels.
  8. Ah, youth. The Cubs are no strangers to an empty Wrigley, especially when it's awful, awful weather on a Monday against a crappy team and the Cubs themselves aren't inspiring much this season. It's a return back to the 90's. There was a sizable jump after the 2003 NLCS appearance but I guess all the enthusiasm has gone away.
  9. Dieties is a real word, I looked it up to be sure.
  10. Edit: And I'm an idiot, for some reason I thought you were saying #2 in the east is better than #1 in the west. my bad.
  11. Thank goodness for a reasonable explanation. yeah im so relieved that its an injury and not a dumb managerial move lol
  12. Gotta give Sori some credit. He's hit 100% of our home runs so far this year and driven in 25% of our RBIs.
  13. Here comes the little dribbler past the pitchers mound to score 2 runs.
  14. Damn you Starlin. Stop making Steve Stone look smart.
  15. Who cares, I'm just worried about how they fare against the Cardinals, Reds, and Brewers.
  16. Yeah, because there aren't any Cards, White Sox or Brewers fans on the boards... Most of the fans on here of those 3 teams seem to be fairly respectful when their team is playing the Cubs. Not saying Jake is meaning to be disrespectful, but it's not unusual for fans to get annoyed when a fan of the opposing team cheers through posting at crucial moments of the game. I'm not talking about just posting in the thread, I'm talking about the cheering after the Walker grand-slam on Opening Day, or the McCutchen homer later that game. I guess I consider it disrespectful, maybe you guys don't. But what I do know is that if it was a Cardinals fan it would have generated a reaction from the Cubs fans here. But obviously Jake has been around here pretty long and has earned respect, which is great. I really haven't been here long enough to know that. If ElCaballo or wolf started cheering for their teams doing well against the Cubs, I don't honestly know what would happen. I don't think they'd get banned immediately because they've earned that benefit of doubt, they might get a PM from a mod though. Whose to say Jake hasn't received any messages from mods?
  17. Agreed...what fun is sports when you can't overrate the potential of your young stud players. Except for Derrick Rose. Everything said about him by Bulls fans has, if anything, been underrating him. And that includes comparisons of him to various dieties.
  18. Yay Sori, way to break up the perfect game, no hitter, shutout, and lead. Is this a repeat of April 2010 Soriano?
  19. @PWSullivan: Today figures to be the lowest attendance at Wrigley Field since at least 2006. Last year's low was 29,538 on Aug. 30 vs. Bucs.
  20. Whats the record for most games trailing in a season?
  21. Not that I would have expected to see him start against a righty but I wouldn't have expected DeWitt to have 0 starts and 1 PA in the first 4 games. Especially when the 1 AB resulted in a game winning hit.
  22. everyone likes jake. This is true. But I think CBM is on to something. I remember that reds44 dude didn't seem too bad until the Reds started getting decent. now I assume he's banned or he considers the Cubs an irrelevant enough rival to avoid coming here and posting. But Jake is especially good and willing to make fun of his team and his fandom enough that a pro-pirate comment at the Cubs expense here and there is allowed. The Pirates look decent enough, but they aren't going anywhere with that infield defense. Worst defense I've seen since game 2 of the 08 division series. We could have swept the series if we simply too advantage of their numerous miscues. How many GIDPs did Cedeno or Walker bobble on Friday and end up with 1 or 0 outs? Then Sunday they pretty much asked us to tie it when their miscue turned a potential DP (right?) to Castro on 3rd with 1 out. Even on Saturday, they made a key error that really set up that 5 run inning that prevented them from sweeping us.
  23. Seriously, Quade is really putting that "lineup position doesn't really matter" theory to the test. And I thought Dusty "Catchers hit 8th dude" Baker was bad. I'm trying to think if there is a lineup in baseball with a worst 2-3 than Barney and Byrd. I'm assuming that isn't going to be the full time 2-3 though.
  24. Blackhawks 1 year reign of Central Division champions is over as the Red Wings clinched last night. Stanley Cup reign will surely be ending sometime soon as well :(
