  1. The dude just wins.
  2. Great article by KC Joyner using in depth stats to explain why the Bears are dangerous and the team no one wants to play in January: http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7245819/why-wants-face-chicago-bears-playoffs-nfl It's an insider article....I'll try to post snippets in a bit.
  3. Yay. I don't place that much emphasis on managers for the most part but this one has me excited, mostly because it is handpicked by Theo and Co. In one offseason, all levels of management have been upgraded. Now lets work on the actual ballclub.
  4. Teams have been getting screwed because of their geography for years, oh well. I understand how that sucks, and if they do away with unbalanced scheduling, I'm all for bitching about it.
  5. I doubt they'll take a worse hitter and fielder for one less year under contract.
  6. They typically do not like us and it has been this way for years.
  7. Its a [expletive] bleacher report rumor. Stop yourself. It has absolutely no basis in reality. I'm not basing anything off the bleacher report article. Perhaps I worded that wrong. I meant that it would make sense that the Cubs would be interested in trading for Loney, given that he's a lefty and a nice defensive first baseman.
  8. You don't understand the Lions fans hatred of the Bears?
  9. Yup. At first I thought they were going to call off the goal, but the posts stayed in position thankfully. What happens if a player very obviously purposely pushes the goal off the moorings during a scoring opportunity for the other team?
  10. That actually makes the Loney rumor more viable as it fits two of those criteria whereas Fielder is a below average Fielder. If the brain trust is serious about improving the defense, prince probably not their guy. Unless they are willing to sacrifice D at first for his bat which is very possible.
  11. Come on, does the title really need to be "James Loney to the Cubs". At least say its a rumor.
  12. Dunno but I noticed him getting a lot more involved offensively tonight, sometimes dipping pretty far into the offensive zone. Quite interesting.
  13. Honestly, it makes sense he would choose the Cubs over the Red Sox. He's a midwest guy, he'd be going to a team with a very positive atmosphere going on, the expectations in year 1 will be lower. Meanwhile the Sox have a negative vibe going on, and while they are clearly more ready to win, the expectations are a WS title or bust. Also, the team he would be managing quit on it's last manager, and their fans were extremely vocal of their criticism of him when he was there last time. No brainer.
  14. With the win, the Hawks goal differential is +14 which is tied for 2nd best in the NHL, behind only Boston who is +18. Also they lead the NHL in points, albeit with 1-2 more games played than most other teams. The Hawks also lead the NHL in goals scored.
  15. I dont care if he's not playing today......LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU What a 3rd period. This team is decent.
  16. Wow that was one of the worst telegraphed passed I've ever seen. I could see it happening in slow motion. Got lucky there.
  17. He also needs to break Schneider's groin again.
  18. I wonder how Boston fans are feeling about this. On to SOSH...
  19. 2-2 on the Power play! It's like someone flipped a switch.
  20. There we go! Nice setup and goal on the PP
  21. Did the Hawks like take shots during the intermission? A completely different team after a decent 1st period. Getting dominated.
  22. Was it today or yesterday when there was a quote about Maddux being undecided whether he would take the Cubs job or not because of family issues? Interesting that soon after Theo Hoyer has his choice. Either one of 2 things most likely happened 1) Maddux made his choice and the Cubs either hired him and moved along to their next choice, or 2) Maddux was not one of the finalists.
  23. Meh, I'm not worried about preventing scoring as much as I'm worried about sacks, ints, fumbles, defensive tds and return tds. If your league counts return TDs under defense, it would make sense to start the Bears. I'm not sure how they are this year, but last year SD's special teams was the worst in the NFL by far. They were 1st in offense, 1st in defense, and 32nd in special teams. That combined with the fact that Rivers has been an interception throwing machine makes me want to start the Bears D there. Just looked it up, according to Football Outsiders, SD has the 27th best ST in the NFL this year, coming off a year where they were dead last. Arizona has the 4th best special teams this year. Not that special teams DVOA ratings come solely from kick and punt returns or kick and punt blocking, but it is a big part of it. All that said, the 49ers and Bears are 1-2 in special teams rankings, so maybe I'm overrated it. I just remember how bad SD's STs were last year and can't go against that.
  24. /Waits for "Marlins interest was never real, unless it was" Heyman joke.
